The report didn't say that the Knicks preferred Morris, just that he did well against Jimmer. He's considered a good defender and he shot nearly 50% which tells you he has the ability to get inside and score. Darius may not be a deep threat, but he's not a bum either. He's got size and skill.
Jimmer is going to be just fine. He's gonna have trouble with the better PG's but who doesn't. He'll always be able to score tho IMO.
I think the Knicks also like Brooks and Shumpert. This all will depend on how the draft goes and who's left on the board.
The Selby talk is probably pretty reliable. He's got a relationship with Melo and his people. Apparently the trouble Selby got in had to do with gifts from Melo's agent. Don't forget that Selby has been working with Billups at Joe Abunassar's mini camp. Clearly there are bigtime connections with the Knicks and Selby. My guess is Melo is telling the Knicks to take Selby and if Billups who has gotten a 1st hand look at the kid agrees there's a great chance that's who the Knicks will pick. The video I saw of the kid he looks great. His stroke is pure and effortless and he's quick and explosive with a great handle and he can pass. I can't imagine that they'd pass unless Billups saw something he didn't like.
I think Morris would be the safest pick, Jimmer will be (at worst, but most likely) a gun off the bench, and Selby is the great unknown... but I do know Selby would have been drafted significantly higher if he was allowed to declare straight after high school and this class wasn't loaded with points.
I'd be okay with Morris or Selby... but not really with Jimmer. I do think Jimmer will be in the league for a wile, but his best-case scenario is Steve Kerr. The Knicks need players to contribute in other areas than three point shooting
