Donnie Walsh was one of the highest paid GM's to sit on his hands and not make deals in hope of 2010.

- He traded Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph who were later traded for 2010 expiring anyway.
- He didn't trade Eddy Curry
- He gave up ALOT to trade Jefferies for Cap Space.

I mean what has the guy really done that any rookie GM couldn't have done?

I don't think he is overrated. I am not sure if he should have communicated to everyone his desire to get under the cap. He was a bit desperate and was taken advantage of. However, I think the coach not playing Hill had a big impact on the Jeffries trade as well. Maybe the trade could have just been Jeffries and a pick or Jeffries and Hill but sending a lottery pick, and a #1 overall protected first round pick in addition to the right to swap places was an awful lot.

Right... Right... Isiah Tomas will do better. No doubt.

You do understand that without Walsh the Melo trade doesn't happen right?

You have got to be pulling my leg. DW did better job than Riley, taking our situation b4 he took over in consideration.

Donnie Walsh did what he had to do to get under the cap but that year with Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford they would have made the playoffs and maybe into the second round. This would have made thier trade value much higher and we still would have gotten Amare and Melo plus some draft picks to our advantage if we only waited a little longer.

You're kidding right? Love the revisionist history on these players. They are on teams with excellent all nba defenders that cover their weaknesses. We would not have won much with Crawful and Randolph.

Rose is not the answer.

Walsh made so many bad choices. Getting rid of Crawford and Randolph, letting Marbury walk, and losing Eddy Curry. These were the core players Isiah had assembled to win a championship, and Walsh blew it.

Walsh also blew it by rolling into that meeting with LeBron in a wheelchair.

How does Melo do that without the players that Walsh accumulated?

We were bidding against ourselves. Who knows which of the players we gave up were really needed to complete the trade?

How does that get pinned on Donnie now? I remember everyone saying at the time that, essentially, "Dolan blew it! Donnie was playing a patient poker hand! Eff JD and the Straight Shot!!!"
