Can still be traded by feb.19 deadline, but he has to be the only atlanta player involved in the deal. the knicks could offer van horn and othella harrington and possibly throw in frank williams to make the salaries work.

BUt Atlanta wants cap space. We tried to get Rahim and I'm we offered similiar stuff. If they wouldn't give him to us for that why would they essentially give up what they traded for Rahima and Ratliff for that?

Isaih needs to do something in order to get him by feb.19 or else we can kiss his ass goodbye, cause rasheed will not sign for the mid-level,there's better teams out there with more money to offer..that is why we need to do somethig, lets send thomas, doleac, and williams.

It's just not going to happen. We were all deluding ourselves-- we've never had anything to offer. We've made our blockbuster trade already. Rasheed was a "pipe" dream.
Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

A sign and trade is our best shot for Wallace next year. There are not very many teams with cap room next year that are going to want to spend it on Wallace.

I doubt that Atlanta would invoke a trade exception like that just to benefit the Knicks. Their main objective is to cut cap.

But hey, you never know... A third team may have to be involved so all teams get the players/contracts they want.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

True...but I don't think it is as much about cap space (to sign FAs). I think it is more about cutting payroll so that the sale of the team goes through. Less payroll is more attractive to potential buyers. Then after the new owners take over they might be willing to take on more salary. We would have to send something back to Atlanta.

So then why cant new york send kurt thoms, mike doleacs and some cash or harrington to atlata. as far as i know all three their contracts expire at the end of season.

Maybe we can get a third team involved that has larger expiring contracts who'd want at least one of the Knicks players. Then an expiring contract bigger than Sheed's can come off their books and possibly get a draft pick or a player from another team who is good but has a better contract.

I'll explore the possibilities a little more and post what I come up with...

The salaries of the Knicks players involved would have to match this final year of Sheed's contract- about $17 Million.

That's why another team would have to be involved to make the deal better for Atlanta. If they can get another expiring contract that, along with the Knicks players, adds up to Sheed's money, then a deal like that can happen.

Atlanta trades: SF Rasheed Wallace (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 37.2 minutes)
Atlanta receives: C Michael Doleac (5.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 14.9 minutes)
C Greg Ostertag (8.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1.8 apg in 30.9 minutes)
PF Keon Clark (2.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -1.7 ppg, +9.5 rpg, and +0.4 apg.

New York trades: SF Keith Van Horn (16.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.8 apg in 33.4 minutes)
C Michael Doleac (5.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 14.9 minutes)
PG Frank Williams (4.3 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 2.2 apg in 12.9 minutes)
New York receives: SF Rasheed Wallace (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 45 games)
Change in team outlook: -8.7 ppg, -5.6 rpg, and -2.1 apg.

Utah trades: C Greg Ostertag (8.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1.8 apg in 30.9 minutes)
PF Keon Clark (2.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
Utah receives: SF Keith Van Horn (16.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.8 apg in 45 games)
PG Frank Williams (4.3 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 2.2 apg in 44 games)
Change in team outlook: +10.4 ppg, -3.9 rpg, and +1.7 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Utah is possibly the only team which might trade some expiring contracts for players at this point because in their case, having tons of cap room dosen't mean they'll be attracting and top FA's. They had over 20 mil in cap room last year and couldn't get anyone of signifigance. KVH is probably better than anyone they can pick up on the FA market after all the top guys are gone. The fact that he's a local star from his days at Utah only helps matters further. Williams gives them a good young point guard also.

Atlanta gets 3 guys who come off the books at the end of the year. The fact that they will translate into less wins than Wallace means a likely higher draft pick and a shot at Dwight Howard or Okafor.

Knicks get Rasheed Done deal! Probably won't happen, but we can always hope...

PF Othella Harrington (4.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.9 minutes)
C Kurt Thomas (11.8 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 1.9 apg in 32.8 minutes)
SG Allan Houston (19.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.1 apg in 37.0 minutes)

Change in team outlook: -0.5 ppg, -5.2 rpg, and +2.7 apg.

Boston trades:
SG Chris Mills (19.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.1 apg in 37.0 minutes)
SG Paul Pierce (23.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 5.3 apg in 38.5 minutes)

SF Rasheed Wallace (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 37.2 minutes)
Atlanta receives:

C Kurt Thomas (11.8 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 1.9 apg in 51 games)
SG Chris Mills (19.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.1 apg in 41 games)
Change in team outlook: -0.1 ppg, +6.4 rpg, and 0.0 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED
Trade ID number 1491295

...and this deal is balanced as can be.

Theres just no way Atlanta will trade sheed. They only want him and person for the cap space, and offering them more contracts is just a waste of time. We'd have a better chance of trying to take shareef from portland now.

Like the idea of trading Allan Houston for Paul Pierce is so blasphemous... Come on, man. That swap would improve the team.

Why would Boston give up Paul Pierce? And don't count on Rasheed's 17 million-off-Atlanta's-cap to go anywhere.

I don't think rasheed would rule out playing for the Knicks for the MID level. he said it his self on TNT a few weeks ago. he really wants 2 play in NY. And I think your going to see a few more FA's do exactly like Malone and payton. They can resign him to a much larger contract after ONE year, with rasies evrey season thereafter.

If rasheed really wanted to show the world he's ready to Win, he'll take the mid level, and make the appropriate sacrifices to have success, cuase you dont have succes without making sacrifices, "BIG ONES"
