Do you agree with that statement? If so, how does it affect your fandom?
I agree. A Dolan-run team cannot win a title. Makes being a fan pointless.
I agree. A Dolan-run team cannot win a title. However, I'm still a fan regardless.

i'm sorry. i'm having a hard time coming up with reasons to stay loyal to a team that is run by this fool. when i was a kid, it was easier to get into the blind loyalty thing. as a man, i just don't know that i can continue to blindly follow. might make me less of a "fan" in some eyes, but i'm not concerned with what other people think of my fandom.

i'm not going to switch teams. however, i'm questioning whether i can continue to follow passionately as i have over the years.

anybody else having similar thoughts?

dolan has just about run out of chances with me. i know some would say, "hey, you survived the Layden and Isiah years, you'll make it through this." i feel like this may have been the last straw.

I hate dolan. Yo odio dolan, and in every other language i hate him. He's a prick. He "fixes" whats not broken, breaks whats broken. I'm so pissed. Cant we have a "specialized team" raid his house and make him disappear somehow.

All thats left is: resigning jeffries, bringing back Isaiah, And asking shaq to come out of retirement for the MLE. And maybe if we're lucky we'll trade landry fields for scalabrine.

same. but do you think the next GM will be here to get titles or just to make splashes and continue to provide Dolan justification for yearly price-hikes? can a GM both bring titles and satisfy Dolan's apparent "make big moves with no regard for long-term vision" fetish?

I voted the can win with Dolan as the owner, because I think fans put way to much into what a owner does. If John Starks has a average game in 94 we win and Dolan was the Owner. I just think you need a lot to go right and a little bit of luck also.

Cablevision bought the team in August 1994 after John Starks had his infamous game 7 performance.

I like Dolan...I want one thing from my owner...Spend your money to make my team better..Dolan is that...George Steinbrenner was hated like Dolan was by the fans and the press before he won...My problem with Dolan is that he may be too loyal...I have no problems with Dolan, the Knicks will win with Dolan...

You also like Marbury and Isiah.

George Steinbrenner had a drive to win. He once said that winning was more important breathing. James Dolan does not have that same fire and desire. He is a big lug with cash that he throws around. He runs his team like a country club. They can be awful for 5 straight seasons and he'll just stick with the same guy because it's his friend. Don't ever compare Dolan to Steinbrenner ever again. George won 7 World Series. Dolan has 0 and more than likely will always have 0.

Baseball is a little different than basketball in terms of buying the best players...What was the difference between Dolan now and Steinbrenner of the 80s?

I like Amare and Melo too...

I agree that Dolan seriously destroys any chance the Knicks have to win a title. It's hard to justify remaining a fan of this team. Still, I can't seriously root for anyone else.

Can the Knicks win with a Dolan-RUN team? No. Can they win with a Dolan-Owned team? Absolutely.

Dolan threw away all of our leverage taking over the Melo negotiations, but I suppose he's the boss and has that right. He's got no clue how to run a basketball club, but at the very least he has never cheaped out on the team (unless those Donnie contract rumors are true).

It's a crap shoot right now. I heard Donnie gets to pick his replacement. Or maybe David Stern has another 'suggestion' or two for Dolan. I'm confident enough Isiah isn't making a comeback, I'll sit back and see where this movie is going. Donnie will be missed very much, but the Knicks move on.

To be continued.

Yeah it's not like we've gone ten consecutive years without winning a playoff game.

but how do you own a team without running it to some extent? has Dolan shown any indication that he would let his guys run the show with autonomy? he seems to be the meddling type. his willingness to spend money is a double-edged sword. in one way it's great because we need to spend that money to get better. in another way it's terrible because it justifies his insistence on having more involvement.

Donnie Left the Knicks in good enough shape that when the next guy that comes in will be able to build around Donnie's accomplishments. I thank Donnie for what he has given the Knicks a chance to be a great team. I wish Donnie was along for the ride, but that bed has been made now and the Knicks will continue as an entity even after Donnie. He left the Knicks in a better place than they were before, thanks again.

How exactly do you know this? Donnie was the first guy to get Dolan to back off for a while and that was only for a few years before he started meddling again.

You don't think the Knicks are in a better position than they were before? Don't you think that the next GM/President that comes in won't build around what Donnie left behind? You don't have to know the obvious.
