Portland is non-committal in offering Greg the qualifying offer of 8.8 mil for next season...If Portland doesn't make the offer, should we take a chance offering 4 mil per over two years?...Is he worth the risk, be it small?...Can we talk him into it given the pieces we have?..If somehow he can give you 20-25 mins, 8 boards with some D, hey....Do we offer Portland a Fields, or Douglas?..hmm.... |

If Greg Oden was on this team, people would be spending days and nights trying to trade him off the team, or having long threads about how useless he is. But because he is on another team, we should throw the farm at him. How about we see what the new CBA looks like, whos available over the summer, and see who would fit the team. ![]() Oden with reduced minutes would be AWESOME for us. We have Amare and Melo here. You tell Oden to grab boards defend and get put backs.
The reason you have to offer the MLE for multiple years is because some contending team will make him an offer. :Cough: Boston, Miami, etc. The guy isnt a scrub he is just injury prone. Honestly as long as he is healthy for the playoff I could care less if he didn't play 70% of the season. Think Bynum with the Lakers. NY Knicks - Retirement home for players and GMs

The centers in the league suck. That is why A broken down Jermaine Oneal got a 2 year deal worth the MLE and he STAYS injured. NY Knicks - Retirement home for players and GMs

Oden has played 82 games over 4 years and won't be able to run until September. Did you just forget about Azubukie? Can you imagine if the Knicks extended him past his original deal for 2 more years? This could turn out to be Jerome James Part II. Did you see how much a player can contribute after not playing for a year or 2 in Michael Jordan? Or one who sits all season in Troy Murphy? Generally, they don't perform. Official sponsor of the PURE KNICKS LOVE Program

He is younger than Rautins and the same age as Fields. Age seems to impact the success of the recovery from microfracture surgery. I also think any team looking into signing him is going to get as much information as is possible in regards to his expected recovery. If it looks like he is going to be able to play again then I think you have to try and sign him if you are the Knicks. Oden has too much talent to ignore the risk/reward potential in my opinion. Like maybe in Summer 2012, when he proves he can get on court. With all things being equal, Knicks only have LLE and MLE for next season to spend on FA. They will use neither on a player who will undoubtedly not be able to get on court until probably April 2012. Official sponsor of the PURE KNICKS LOVE Program

Oden is a high risk high reward acquisition. Azuibuike is a guard which the NBA is not in short supply of. Oden is a 7 foot center with actual skill. Big difference. A 3 year 15 million dollar deal is really cheap assuming he plays 50% of the time in 3 seasons. Oden is 23 yrs old not 33 yrs old man. NY Knicks - Retirement home for players and GMs

![]() i have no problem bringing oden in here for a look. it all depends on how much money he wants though. obviously his injury history is deplorable, but he's still extremely young and growing into his body. id give him the mle at most.
