Let's be for real. With LeBron, Wade, and Bosh on Miami. How can we ever get to the finals with them standing in our path.

I've been thinking. All we have is Amare and Melo with a broken down Billups for now. Amare and Melo is not as good as LeBron and Wade. Bosh is the x-Factor. How will we ever get to the finals with Miami and Chicago being as good as they are. We can't find a Big Man and just about all of our pick will be gone for the next 4 years. All I can see is us getting past the 1st round and out.Maybe the 2nd Round but then we will have to face Miami just like Patrick Ewing had to face Michael Jordan to get to the finals and we never did until Michael Retired the first time. I see no way of us getting to the finals because we gave up everything we had to get Melo.Don't get me wrong I like Melo but my question to everyone on this forum is HOW DO WE GET TO THE FINALS?? THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND?? WHAT MUST WE DO??

CP3 or Deron Williams.

Call it starphucking, but an elite PG will turn this current team, whose ceiling is really no better than the TMac/Yao "superstar" pairing, into a legit contender.

Just have to hope the new CBA doesn't restrict us from signing another max in 2012.

I think the first step is for them not to get out of the East. Right now they are the desired destination for free agent vets chasing a ring. If they can't get past Chicago maybe that would help change that.

Interior defense and a better all-around supporting cast can do it even if we don't get the 3rd superstar. They are depleted of any flexibility with the bad contrcts of Miller and Haslem, we don't have that. We just need to be careful of who we sign. If we make sure we are better at the center position, the PG, and the bench, we can beat them in a series. Chicago is going to give them a run for it and they don't have 3 stars, just a very good team. We are in good shape at the PG position whether Billups in the right person or not, because next season FAs include Nash, Felton, Session, etc. At the center we should probably try to get one this year because there won't be a lot on the market next year. Dalembert is not a star, but we don't need a star at center. He's a good rebounder, post defender, and shot blocker. He is more of a presence then Miami can probably acquire anytime soon. This is where it starts for us and there is real opportunity to become better soon.

Might not happen. Stay competitive and enjoy the journey. Injury and bench clearing brawls happen.

The ownership took a highly profitable strategy that was doomed to fail from a fan perspective. It would be a lot easier to "enjoy the ride" if I thought the ownership was legitimately trying to win a championship rather than just steal our money.

Ha... I was watching some of Winning Time at a bar with the sound off last night and it still had me wincing.

HOW DO WE GET OUR FIRST PLAYOFF WIN?!? Let's see if they can answer that question, first off.

I'm not ready to call Billups "broken down," but I get the point.

The answer is that we have to get quality at center and depth inside. Miami has Wade and James, who are probably the best 2 perimeter players in the league, but we know that they don't match up well against teams with a lot of quality bigs (which right now in the East is nobody).

Training camp and Dalembert will be a great start.

I think Chicago qualifies as having quality bigs. I also think Ainge is going to make some moves to bring in some younger guys with size.

1st off we didn't get a high playoff seed and thus we faced a very tough 1st rd matchup and then we lost 2 of our big 3!!! This team will be much improved if we can make a few minor improvements this summer and go into the season with a full camp together. It was a very tough draw to go against Boston with a group we just threw together. I mean there has to be a sense of reason when evaluating what happened this postseason.

AS for the future, We don't have many long term contracts. I am curious what Donnie and Mike intend to do with Balkman tho. His was the only bad contract we took on. IMO you have to get some use out of him at that price for the next 2 yrs.
Douglas, Turiaf, Balkman, Rautins and Landry are locked in and Walker has a team option for $916,100.00.

It's gonna take smart cap management by Donnie to build around the $40 mil that STAT and Melo take up every year. The logical move is cheap players acquired thru the draft and FA market. Even tho we didn't win in the playoffs last year, I think that there is a renewed respect for the team and that there will be players that want to play here and be part of a winning franchise much like Miami.

The only way we replenish the cupboard is via draft. We need cheap labor because Melo and Amare make a ton. We are not getting anymore high profile players in free agency.

The Knicks are in a tough spot having traded so many picks. I don't think teams sell picks very often.

Realistically, only way past them in the playoffs is to get lucky with seeding and pray another team knocks them out before we have to face them.

In a straight up playoff match I don't foresee us getting enough assets to overcome the talent imbalance... we simply don't have enough draft picks or cap space

Rose is not the answer.

Also keep in mind that Wade and Bosh aren't the most durable of players and will most likely have playoffs where someone isn't healthy.

It's possible but we won't beat Lebron plus either Bosh or Wade. Lebron took a NBDL roster to the finals. They have more draft picks than we do to use to add depth too. Amare's also more likely to be injured than Wade or Lebron. I'll root for the team and I definitely want them to win but I see nothing to indicate the management has abandoned its awful starphucking strategy of the past ten years.

Yo, Melo took the Nuggets to the WCF against 10X tougher compettion. On head to head matchups Melo owns Lebron. Amare can destroy Bosh that's 2-0 in favor of the Knicks. Wade alone cannot defeat us their bench sucks as abad as ours and WE can still IMPROVE via combination of trade/free agency. Their draft picks will be the lowest first rounders and they can't trade for jack.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

You're right; I don't know what I was thinking.
