Papabear Says

Jerry Zgoda, Minneapolis Star Tribune: [Derrick] Williams is expected to be selected second overall next month after Cleveland chooses Duke guard Kyrie Irving first. The question now: The Wolves will do the selecting with that second pick, but will it be for themselves or another team?Already it’s clear the Wolves will shop that second pick in search of a more experienced player or players and quite possibly a later pick in the first round. Thursday’s rumor said the team is discussing a trade with Indiana involving Pacers forward Danny Granger. The report by an Ohio writer mentioned the names of Michael Beasley and Ricky Rubio as well as that No. 2 pick. Wolves boss David Kahn in turn texted an inquiring Indianapolis reporter and asked if the team must include Kevin Love, too.

No chance, we don't have any assets left. Granger for the pick, Rubio and Beasley seems like a lot, unless there is a later pick coming back to Minny.

I wanted them to get the first pick and land Irving so that we could snatch flynn or rubio for cheap..

But I think Kanter would be a great pick for them...

Imagine if the draft goes like this:

Cle: Irving
Minn: Kanter
Utah: Knight
Clev: Derrick Williams

That could be enough to make a deal unless Minny is scared off by Field's performance in the playoffs. Don't know enough about the other players you mentioned at this time to comment.

No way Minny does that i bet they would get a better offer than that.. Why would they get douglas another PG?

Minny also has the 20th pick in the draft. So trading one is probably going to happen. Unless they get some get offer, I'd bet they trade #20. He'll also trade the rights to Rubio, IMO.

I'd do TD for the #20 pick in a heartbeat. TD has showed he is going to develop slowly and he doesn't look to be a play-maker but rather a scoring combo-guard. I think he has terrific physical abilities, but not much besides wet noodles in his cranium.

I like Toney D for his toughness and defense. Also, he always plays hard. He still needs to gain more experience but you can't expect every player will come in and be an immediate star. Remember he played the entire season season with a torn labrum in his right (shooting) shoulder. Bill Walker can be traded and lots of money.

if Singleton is still available with the 20th pick.. i'd pick him..Second place would be Morris unless we pick Freddete. But i woudnt be sad with a Morris and Singleton deaft, assuming we buy the timberwolves pick

It seems like Kahn always makes out very well when he trades with the Knicks. If the right opportunity is there to get 20 Walsh should do it but he shouldn't give up too much. Fields or Douglas would be ok if a guy the Knicks are targeting is available in my opinion.

Wolves aren't trading their #2 pick according to their owner Glen Taylor. Knicks have a better chance at their #20 pick.

Taylor said he is excited about the Wolves' recent luck in getting the second pick in the draft. Most mock drafts list Duke point guard Kyrie Irving and Arizona forward Derrick Williams as the top two picks. Taylor said he believes the team will retain the draft choice.

"I think it's most likely we'll keep [the pick] ... but we're open to look at a trade," said Taylor, who will let Kahn make the final decision. "But most likely we'll keep [the player who is drafted]. I just think when you get a pick that high, you would want to keep it for the future."

but we're open to look at a trade

Basically they will trade it but want A LOT in return. In this draft I doubt they get it, though Kanter or Williams could demand that from the right team.

And we don't have a lot to give.

ehehe, I wasn't talking about us! But you are right. Fields and number 17 is not enough, even in this draft. Fields, Douglas and #17 might be, but we would be pretty bare. That said, if we could get Kanter I think I'd do it.

you guys loved fields so much so you were exstatic that walsh did not include him in the carmello trade..being that you're quick to get rid of him now as he was exposed in the seasons 2nd half..dont you think minny or any other team saw the same poor play that you did..sorry but there are no more isaih thomas's or ted stepian to trade with
