Great post - that was the 1st Blu Ray I bought - I figured with the costumes and colors in general that this would be a good choice for a first B/R AND Was not dissapointed. Picture like GLASS.

5 Element Ninjas will be my next B/R.
Another classic & the DVD9 looks so good to begin with.

I need to give the film a second chance... I started the cut version, didn't finish it, and, honestly, thought everyone who loves the movie was insane. I have since learned the edits butchered the movie.

Same here. I saw it years ago on TV and didn't like it very much. I bought the director's cut DVD and IMO its like watching another film. Its one of my favorite westerns. Great story about getting old and standing by your buddies when the chips are down.

I don't know if you have a blu-ray player but if you like westerns check out the blu ray version of The Searchers with John Wayne if you haven't already. Some of those panoramic shots look almost 3D which is amazing considering it was released in the 50s. Great film.

I am a recent Western convert... I will check that out. The Outlaw Josey Wales is probably my favorite

Great call, I don't have a favorite western but Josey Wales would easily be in my top 5. I didn't get into westerns until a few years ago myself. Grew up more into sci-fi, but in this tech heavy world with CGI films being all the rage, westerns are a refreshing change of pace.
