We need to target players who have an immediate transferable skill to make them an NBA contributor. We don't need a star, but we need to target strong role players. We have been very successful at finding solid role players in the draft the past 5 or 6 years so we just need to do it again. Good teams who already have stars become great because they find these types of players in the draft. Like the Celtics with players like Big Baby, Spurs with Blair and many european successes, and so on and so forth. We are finally in great position where the stars are there, and we have some players like Fields and Douglas who are great role players found later in the draft. We just need to keep the ball rolling. Here are a few players who would be great fits.

Klay Thompson- We know he would come in a be our best shooter. Could be a poor-man's Kevin Martin, but however good he becomes, he could be a great player in our lineup at SG for years to come.

Kenneth Faried- Would be our best rebounder. Would be great off the bench, and could sometime contribute like Blair has in SA.

Darius Morris- Pure PG who would create plays for our stars. This is something we don't have on the roster.

These are 3 players who would bring something to the table that we don't already have, thus making them instant contributors and strong rotation players. Lately i have been leaning toward K Thompson if available because i really think having a pure SG with this team is essential. He also has the ability to create for others. He would split time with Fields and possibly allow Fields to become a spectacular 6th man. This is the type of player we need to target along with the others i mentioned.

C K Martin
PF Stoudemire
SF Anthony
SG Thompson
PG Billups
6th Fields
7th Douglas
8th Turiaf
9th S Williams
10th J Jordan

Sign Kenyon Martin to a 1-year deal for the MLE and this would be a very strong rotation for the upcoming season.

I Like all three players you mentioned. At least one of them should be available when the Knicks pick. I think D. Morris is who we need though. We don't have a pure pg on this team. Even Billups is not really a classic pg. BUt any of the three should help this team although I worry that Faried may be just a rich man's Balkman.

i dont think you can use the MLE for just 1 year, i think at least a 1 year + 1 year player option. Anyone know for sure? I don't think Martin is enough, he is a decent PF if you have a good team + legit center. But he isn't the answer for us at Center. I would rather have Greg Foster from the Pacers at a lower rate. Martin played a pretty good year though, i think one of his better years after his big injury. I think we need a lot more players to go deep and to use all of the MLE for the Knicks, just isn't enough cause we need to fill a lot of positions and legit bodies.

Greg Foster
Aaron Gray
Big Baby
Dampier
Pietrus
Battier
Barnes
Anthony Parker
Shannon Brown
Delonte West

I would try to get 2-3 players with the MLE and LLE.

For the full MLE

Dalembert
Yao Ming
Kris Humphries
not sure about Pietrus, dont think I would give him the full MLE

These are the only big men I would consider for the full MLE.
I think we need to add
2 legit centers + Jerome Jordan
1-2 sg/sf + shawne williams or 2 of that type role.
1 back up pf/c
a future pg, not necessary though, TD still has 1 year to learn from Billups.

What is everyone else thoughts and opinions?
What and you do not agree with?

Please no "Big Baby". This big guy thing don't end well for anyone. Sweetney, Jackie Blue Butler, Eddy, and Tractor Traylor.

Jeff Foster is a solid option, but he is hurt a lot too, and is so limited offensively that it may hurt this team. We need a center who is at least a solid finisher.

We cannot afford an injury prone player especially a big - we do not have the depth for that. He goes down and we are screwed and back to the crapper.

I want Chris Singleton. I think he'd be our Marion. He brings a lot of length and energy on the floor and would be a defensive stopper. He could take a lot of pressure off both Stoudemire and Anthony up front.

Selby is tearing it up in his training center. Buy a low #1 and come out with two of the three from Selby,Harper and Faried.

Selby is the perfect pupil to put with Billups, Harper was made for this system and has crazy upside and we all know what Faried brings.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

whats so bad about a rich man' balkman?

balkman is a guy who can defend and rebound he just lacks in the mental side

something Faried dosent. Rodman praised the guy for a reason
