With the Heat one win away from eliminating the Celtics from the 2011 NBA Playoffs, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade revealed how that franchise's moves of 2007 was used as a model for their decisions of 2010.

"They set the blueprint for us when they decided to make the trade for [Kevin Garnett] and for Ray [Allen]," James said. "Seeing guys make sacrifices to come together and play as one. They set the blueprint and went out there and did it. They won a championship. They competed every year."

The Celtics eliminated both the Heat and Cavaliers from the 2010 NBA Playoffs.

"With LeBron losing to Boston in Cleveland in the playoffs, he felt like, 'I gotta do more, I need to be around more to contend for a championship,' " Wade said. "Me feeling the same way going into the summer, saying that I needed more, it was because of Boston. They knocked us out."

I don't think LeBron knew what he was going to do until he announced it. I'm sure the three guys talked about playing together and stuff, but I'm not sure that LeBron was all-in right away.

I speculate New York knew that LeBron wasn't coming, and that's why they signed Amar'e so quickly when free agency started. I still can't discredit them for trying, especially since it gave Walsh and Co. an actual reason for taking the correct, patient approach.

why? Usually when you plan something for 2 years coming there is no last minute switch

It would kill me to see they actually win it all this year...it will change the dynamics of the nba, players will see how boston did it now miami..I'm sure there going to make it a little more difficult for players to just jump ship..

They probably incorporate the mlb rules where the team the top tier FA signs with automatically forfiets there #1 draft pick.

I was really pissed last summer when they had the pep rally in miami but as the the knicks are gone I have not watched a game. Weather has been nice at nite and Im either reading im my porch or watching a movie.

Playing Tennis 3 nites a week too.

I don't watch Miami games. The three of them are obnoxious to watch. The "Superfriends" thing is just too contrived.

A OK-ATL or MEM-ATL is a network nightmare!

But I'd root for that to happen!

I'll root for anyone out west to beat them.

Our course was set regardless of what Lebron decided. We knew that we could get 2 Stars and try for a 3rd. Now that Dolan messed up the plan, we won't likely add that 3rd star, but it was still worth it. We couldn't expect to do much better than to have STAT and Melo to start 2011-12 season. I can live with that. It will be interesting to see how we do against the Heat over the next 5 years.

miami was the biggest rivarly this franchise ever had..i dont like bron, i dont like bosh, and miami fans dont have a clue..
