Some Players Impress, but Others Drop Out After Draft Camp
by Net Income on May 7, 2011 9:33 PM EDT

The big news out of the Nets group workout Saturday was not so much who impressed but who dropped out of the Draft. Reggie Jackson, the BC point guard who was viewed as the best player in camp, was a no-show and is believed to have decided to return to school. Ashton Gibbs, the Pitt guard from Scotch Plains, and Reggie Johnson, the Miami center, did show, but both decided to withdraw from the draft after the workout.

Billy King said some players surprised but then declined to say who, not wanting to show his hand six-plus weeks before the Draft. Many agreed the day's best performer was former Providence small forward Jamine "Greedy" Peterson, who played this season for the New Mexico Thunderbirds of the NBA's D-League.

The Nets' Ben Couch spoke with King (who said he expects to take Brook Lopez to Barclays Center next week) as well as a number of the top prospects still standing, including Peterson, a Brooklyn native.

Interesting, there is that rumor floating that Doc Rivers has promised the BC guard Reggie Jackson to be the pick. But if he returns, it really is a rumor.

It kinda makes sense. Bradley is combo guard in the mold of Toney Douglas. Outside of West, who's also a combo, they really don't have a natural point guard off the bench.
