Obviously by picking up Billups contract, we are keeping the 2012 options open. We know we need help however to be even a playoff contender to this team.
Amare
Melo
Bilups
Fields
TD
Balkman
Turiaf? player option
Bill Walker team option
Jerome Jordon
1st round pick
Will we resign Shawne WIlliams?
If we use the MLE this year, doesn't it take us out of the 2012 sweepstakes though? But if we don't use it, I dont see us having a chance to making it past the 1st round even if we get there....
i would love Jack as well, we need to find cost efficient 2 way players. Jack could fit that description but it would cut in to the MLE. If we can't get a good big like Dalembert, Prizbilla, Humpries, Big Baby. We can sign players like Greg Foster, Dampier, Big Z, Anthony Parker, Jack, Delonte West, Barnes, Collins', Jamario Moon. Pietrus? think he would be close to are most of the MLE too. We need to fill out our bench with skilled depth players.
We need a starting SG, Fields has room for improvement though.
A starting Center.
PG/ Billups has injury issues and TD isn't a great decision maker but I can see improvement but a 3rd pg is needed. Shannon Brown is close to a combo guard but he would be nice too.
back up SF/PF, Shawne WIlliams would be nice to keep but I his contract is up. I know his last comments looks like he might stay but its not for sure he will stay.
PF/C Turiaf is a decent back up but he can opt out as well. Jerome Jordan would be the 3rd Center I would like to have. Bodies can always be used though...
G/F in the Barnes/Raja Bell mode would be nice to have. Grant Hill would be great for the min or even part of the MLE.
With Chauncey Billups expiring deal, our own 1st rounder this year, TD, Laundry Fields. We still have some assets to possibly upgrade a position or 2. I would like to collect as many 2 way players as we can and have the option to make a good trade to solidify our team....
Question is how should we spend the MLE if it still exist. I personally would like to add Dalembert or Kris Humpries for the whole thing. I am not sure if Prizbilla is worth the whole MLE. But we need a body. Would it be better to have a player or 2/3 like Dampier, Foster, and Grant Hill. Also hoping there is still a LLE and signing good minimum contracts as well. We should look at some of the D league's athletic big men like Sean Williams and a couple of guys people have mentioned on the board.
We have to stay optimistic, I know we gave up too much for this Melo deal, but its done. We can only try to add talent to compliment and good team ball with what we have.
Just curious, I know a combo of Steve Nash, Amare, Melo, would be horrendous on defense. A player like Wilson Chandler would have fit nicely in Marion's role like in the Suns, except Amare isn't in his prime anymore. Grant Hill still looks great and would be great for this team.
With the chips we have left, Billups expiring, Fields, TD, 1st round pick. What do you guys feel about a deal with the Suns? I am not sure if Aaron Brooks, Gortoc and Frye is available, not sure if i even want him even if he is *Frye* Our defense of Nash, Melo, Amare, Frye = offense = defense ...
But what would be a beneficial and fair trade we can do? I can see Nash *expiring* + Grant Hill resigned at 2-3mill. I would assume Suns would be asking at least for our pick and maybe even TD or Fields. I am not sure what Nash's trade value is at but he is a player that made Dantoni's system work. Marion should get a lot of credit as well, he played great for them during those year. I see this at a realistic trade that leaves us enough flexibility for 2012 but would close us this years draft pick. If Fields were to be traded, we wouldn't be able to sign him anyway if we were in any 2012 sweepstakes if we are going all in on 1 player. KG/Ray Allen would be an interesting plan F option if we fail Paul, Deron, Dwight, maybe Gasol + Deandre Jordan. I think it would take max to sign all of these players. Greg Oden and Kaman would be under the radar but I don't think they would come cheap either....
