I don't see any way that Memphis lets him go with how well he's been playing.
Us getting him was a long shot because he was a RFA.

I'd say now its a gone shot.

the guy is useless ...he WALKS up and down the floor and I haven't seen him even attempt a 3 yet.

He does actually need to get in better shape. But he's playing his way into a big contract with Memphis, certainly bigger than we ought to be offering him if we plan at all to be in the D. Howard/Chris Paul sweepstakes.

The Knicks next key component will not:

- be named Chris Paul or Deron Williams.

- be Pau, Marc, Harpo, Zippo, Groucho or Fredo Gasol

- be a max contract

- have a marquee name, representation by CAA or a Hollywood starlet for a girlfriend

- be a lottery pick, or even a first round bonus pick because picks are not on sale

- be under 6'9

- have the initials JJ

- be on anyone's radar

The next key component for the NY Knicks will not be televised.

Yes - but does the Memphis commitment to guys like Conley, Gay, Zach and likely Gasol --- make other guys like Mayo & Darrell Author potential candidates. Both would be nice fits here.

i would love Jack as well, we need to find cost efficient 2 way players. Jack could fit that description but it would cut in to the MLE. If we can't get a good big like Dalembert, Prizbilla, Humpries, Big Baby. We can sign players like Greg Foster, Dampier, Big Z, Anthony Parker, Jack, Delonte West, Barnes, Collins', Jamario Moon. Pietrus? think he would be close to are most of the MLE too. We need to fill out our bench with skilled depth players.

We need a starting SG, Fields has room for improvement though.
A starting Center.
PG/ Billups has injury issues and TD isn't a great decision maker but I can see improvement but a 3rd pg is needed.
back up SF/PF, Shawne WIlliams would be nice to keep but I his contract is up. I know his last comments looks like he might stay but its not for sure he will stay.
PF/C Turiaf is a decent back up but he can opt out as well. Jerome Jordan would be the 3rd Center I would like to have. Bodies can always be used though...
G/F in the Barnes/Raja Bell mode would be nice to have.

With Chauncey Billups expiring deal, our own 1st rounder this year, TD, Laundry Fields. We still have some assets to possibly upgrade a position or 2. I would like to collect as many 2 way players as we can and have the option to make a good trade to solidify our team....

Grant Hill should be added to the list. I would love to split get him near the min or even part of the MLE.

Guys, the NBA may implement a hard cap. I actually think this is where things may go. If that is the case, we may not only have a bit of a selection (minus RFA's), but have players who want to come here as it will be a great shot at a ring. That hurts us as far as Miami is concerned though.
