Billy Walker: C

To me, Walker had his chances during the season to make an imprint and solidify his role in the rotation. I think back to an early afternoon home game against Philadelphia where everyone was struggling and the team needed a boost off the bench and Walker played a very poor game. Those are the types of situations where you have to shine in this league. He’s not the player who is going to come in and win a game by himself and while he has nice rotation on his jump shot, he is a very streaky outside shooter. In his defense, he’s been formed into a shooter, but that shouldn’t take away from his athleticism. He stops going to the rim most of the time because he commits to it way too early and teams step in and take offensive fouls on him. If he could learn to attack the rim and side step help defenders before lift off, he could be a major offensive asset. The Knicks have a big decision to make with Walker moving forward. Has he showed enough desire to improve and supplant himself in the rotation to earn a spot on the roster next year?

One of the few bench players on this team that can FINISH.

Decent outside shooter

Not a terrible rebounder

Beard

988k contract

Exactly what Tommy D said and what I scream at my TV during games. How many times do you bowl over someone who is already waiting for you and get called for a charge or push off with your off hand while going up before you adjust?

Sometimes just content to just stand around and chuck it up

Worth 988k? Money/roster spot/minutes better spent on Dleague/Euro/Rookie prospect ?

I remember a few times during the Boston series that he drove to the basket and then stopped for a pull up jumper instead of running the guy over. He is learning.

The guy is only one year older then Fields, he still has plenty of time to mature as a player.

With Bully's hops, he should go to the rim with two hands on the ball. Either a strong finish at the rim or shooting foul shots.

I hope he's in the gym all summer and is motivated to get that contract.

Walker lost a lot of weight this summer and looked trim, but then pulled an Eddy Curry and got fatter as the season went along. He's still too heavy and it's slowing him down. He needs to take his conditioning seriously.

Yeah, didn't he even say during pre-season how big of an adjustment it was playing with so much less weight?

Either way... Like GSK says, I hope he's in the gym during the summer working hard.

He had about 10 offensive fouls in 4 games in the Celtics series. Everytime he goes to the basket he's called for a charge. He was a nice find for a couple seasons, but we could probably do better.

Dude is way young and has a lot of potential. He worked his arse off last summer by all accounts. It's not like we have a ton of players with his athletic ability at the SG position. I did see him get to the rim on several occasions last year and he has a nice stroke from 3.

I'm not pleased with the SG position but Center is the real need.
