Off the top of my head:

*Re-Sign Walsh...for the love of God man, just get this done

*Pick up Billups' option. He is more valuable as an expiring contract than his $4 million buyout is considering the market this summer.

*Fire Mike D'Antoni. This one is easy. His time has come to an end.

*Re-sign Anthony Carter, Shelden Williams and Shawne Williams

*Trade Toney Douglas for a decent big man, if possible

*Trade Turiaf in the summer

*Let everyone else go besides the guys mentioned above and Carmelo and Stoudemire

How about offering your suggestions for what you want out?

I just did...

If you're talking about the coach, I have many names. I prefer a defensive-minded coach. We lost out on Thibodeau when we ha the chance but I would go with another good coach in the making in Brian Shaw. Or, if Dolan isn't such an ahole, a reunion with bald head Van Gundy. But I have others on my list as well.

New coach will be a good move. I for one would like to get Patrick Ewing to coach the Knicks. Get some good assistant coaches around him. If the Knicks can't manage to get anyone in FA to play center I am taking a chance on a tandem of Oden, Jordan and Turiaff. Bring back Billups draft Nolan Smith to be his backup and future PG. Move Douglas, Fields and Rautins for Mayo. Bring back Shawne, Walker, Sheldon and AC.

Donnie is 70 years old. He just had his artwork scribbled on and he may not be happy about being second-guessed. We need him more than he needs us.

If Walsh walks, depending on the allegiances of the next President of Basketball Operations, Mike D'Antoni could be on a short leash. Quiet the speculation in the front office and approach the draft with a clear strategy. If not, expect two more years of turnover.

Shelden Williams and Toney Douglas can take a hike. Ronny Turiaf can stay as the honorary ML Carr cheerleader and insurance forward. He is not a center.

Figure out a way to make a play for Kemba Walker. If not, go with the best quality 6'11 player available. Any offseason where you can add 2 quality players is a good offseason. Don;t get greedy. Every other franchise seeks to improve and deals are NOT made in a vacuum. The reality is the Knicks have critical depth issues in the froncourt, the most difficult to fill, that will NOT be solved in one off season.

Two years away.

I agree with you on Walsh and Billups. I don't think Billups is worth the 14 million dollars, but there's too much uncertainty with the lockout looming and not enough time to know what else is out there so he's going to stay.

I'd also keep D'Antoni around for the last year of his contract. I'm still not sure he's the right guy, but I'm not seeing anybody better becoming available, unless New York's going to offer Phil Jackson a dump truck full of money to not retire. JVG's not a realistic option, and names like Brian Shaw and Mike Brown and Patrick Ewing don't appeal to me more than D'Antoni does.

After that, the priority has to be getting a center or even two centers so Amare can move back to the power forward position. The Knicks also need a backup point guard.

*Bring back Isiah Thomas...for the love of God man, just get this done

*Bring back Marbury, and his truck.

*Fire Mike D'Antoni. This one is easy. His time has come to an end. Isiah is the right coach for this team

*Re-sign Eddy Curry, Steve Francis and Moochie Norris

*Trade Toney Douglas for Jerome James

*Get rid of Carmelo and Stoudemire

I think our first move is extending Walsh

Then picking Up Chauncey's final year...... I know not everyone likes Chuancey but his 14 million Expiring
Contract is a HUGE asset regardless if he plays another meaningful minute for us!
I think Billups and his 14 mil will bring us our 3rd piece in 3way with Denver

I could be wrong but I really believe it was pre - Arranged that Billups retires in Denver

If say Billups and pieces like TD and Walker can get us CP3 then we need do draft REBOUNDS!!

Or sign a Reggie Evans type

Our biggest hole is at Center and Evans doesnt help but he Could guard C better then Amare and Turiaf
combined

We need a rebounder in the worst way!

Now after that our needs become a bench guy or 2 since only really plays 8 or nine guys no matter what
but I say go after Mayo hard.

I think he is restricted FA right?

I say since we re up Billups and are over cap offer Mayo Mid Level and 5 years and Lock this kid up!!

I been a Mayo fan since his High School days and I truly believe this Kid is gonna blow up on next team!!

I also believe he would be perfect in this Offense with guys like Amare and Melo

If we can get Mayo Fields goes to bench and makes bench stronger and takes pressure off of him.

Then we look like this.....

Billups or Whoever he is traded for.
Mayo
Melo
Amare
REBOUNDER ( Hopefully through Draft )

Bench:
Fields
Turiaf
Shawne Williams
?
?

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

If you take the position that Chauncey Billups the expiring contract is worth more than what can get this offseason, then you must know that taking back any long term salary at all under current cap structure would make it impossible for a max free agent next summer.

This means that whoever we sign this offseason is a 1 year rental regardless of what else happens.
Billups or approximately 1 10 Mil player or 2 Five Mil players.

If we could somehow get value for 4 to 5 Million 1 year rental I would be all for letting Billups walk.
I don't think you could get near Billups level of talent anywhere close to our available cap space.

It would also be sweet if there is a Mid Level Exception, but most of the articles on the next labor agreement seem to be in agreement that it will not be around once everything is worked out.

Great. We have a franchise power forward, so let's draft for that position in the first round. I'm not buying 6'10" in college makes you a legit center in the NBA.

Here is my To-Do list

1. Sign Tyson Chandler for 4 years at $10M per year. This will mean he is married to Melo and Amare for those 4 years. Rolling the dice that all 3 will be healthy in those 4 years.
2. Draft a PG this summer. Hopefully Jimmer or Kemba falls to 17. If not then take a 6'10"+ player and buy a late 1st or early 2nd rounder and draft Ben Hansborough. I really like the kid.
3. Keep Billups. He can serve as mentor to the new PG coming in that we draft.
4. Get another 6'5"+ SG that can shoot and defend. Battier?
5. Keep Shawne Williams.

why? If its just out of Knick loyalty than I can't agree. Hell, I can't agree under any conditions I can think of. The guy was mad at NY for not interviewing him but he didn't want to be an assistant but head coach. This is one of the NBA's flagship organizations....you don't give this job to a coach without head coaching experience.

Sorry Pat, love you but come and be an assistant first.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Mayo?

Why would OJ Mayo leave all the fun he is having in Memphis with a young feisty team?

If it is not cap friendly then we would need to let Billups go. Anthony Carter needs to be resigned for 2 years until the young PG is ready to take the helm.

if you let Billups walk, Knicks will be at $50M. Cap will be $58-60m?
