what are you gonna do to stop a locomotive If the coach says don't foul? How do you stop Rondo or Rose with a full head of steam? You don't you harass the outlet pass.

Toney had a lot on his plate last night. Kid isn't a full time starter and he was asked to start a playoffs game. And then Amar'e went out. There's a lot going on there.

If this was a regular season game, I would give him a pass, but when u have hr's upon hr's to look at film and study your opponet, there's no excuse to have that kinda of defensive effort. I won't pin it all on him, but he's the main culprit. He back off him and gave him the jumper that he kept clanking...that's fine' but the purpose of you backing up was so he wouldn't blow by you..

If rondo developes a jumper he would (hands down) be the best player in the nba

i couldnt believe my eyes last night. he was exposed in every facet of his game. i want to say that he will improve but he is just so terrible. his "step and slide" is a "step and whack". someone get this guy some defensive tapes.

He does have a lot on his plate. O would cut him slack if he worked his butt off and just got killed. But he basically just back pedaled and gave up layups

we have only turiaf as a shot blocking presence. It would change both of our defensive and offensive games with a shot blocking defensive center. J/O and KG, even big baby play that role on boston. We had Wilson Chandler at the 2,3,4 at times, but he was our best presence. In the end we need to add shot blocking, i never understood why we never went to the D league for some help, Sean Williams.

whoever is guarding Turiaf, JJ, Anthony Carter, and whatever center we use to put in, is cheating and always looking to double Amare and Melo. They guard those guys half ass D and its honest enough to make these guys not hit a shot. It makes it a lot harder for Melo/Amare when they have at least one person waiting in the paint for them. It doesn't help when these guys touch the ball, they are going to try to score 90% of the time. The defensive knows what we are going to do and we still do it. Their games aren't as dominant as their stats sometimes suggest.... Russel Westbrook > Melo.

Also what was with that foul before the half? Douglas and Jeffries have these reputations for being great defensive players yet you watch the game and I don't see it. Jeffries against Garnett at the end ? All he did was let Garnett push him down until Garnett had basically a layup. Someone on the Knicks had to knock Rondo on his azz instead of giving up layups.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Look at his 4th foul in the second half...he played good defense and got called for a phantom foul though Rondo made the shot anyway.

No it was not a good effort. But he did get better as the game went on. come to think of it I don't recall any PG's in the NBA stopping anyone this season in that scenario ...with the ball and a full head of steam coming straight to the hoop. Seems to me there was more than one defender at least once. And in each case Rondo had to alter his shot to get it up to the rim.

In that scenario playing off him is a losing proposition anyway. Should set in his path and make him go around hoping the help arrives.

Me I'm proud of the Knicks and there effort. There was no quit in them no matter how stacked against them the odds were. They fought hard. Still think they have a chance.

The 3rd foul on TD? Not sure which you are talking about, but I think that was to get STAT out of the game.

TD and Fields showing their inexperience. Big time. Love for those 2 to just say FUCK IT and man up and play big time. Same with Walker and Shawne, the mental mistakes with those 2 are countless.

I wrote about him on the game thread- but here's a guy who hasn't had a lot of experience playing in foul trouble. And with the added pressure of having to assume PG responsibilities with the starter out, it was a really difficult situation. He wasn't nearly as agressive enough. We did better when we put Melo, Walker, Jeffries on Rondo because it kept him from going to the paint and instead forced him into jumpers. This is a game Douglas has to learn from because he's not as bad as he showed.

If you think Jeffries wasn't good defensively last night, I don't know what to tell you.

Coach called for a foul they had just realised Amar'e was hurt and wanted to get him off court.

I was more upset about his game on the offensive end, to be honest.

Conclusion... TD arguably had his worst game as a Knick.

You are missing the point. I said I would cut the guy some slack if he just simply got killed by Rondo. But instead he played tentative, backpedaled and just gave Rondo layups without making him change directions, slow down, make a move etc. Unacceptable. He had a rough game. He's young so sometimes they have to go through this stuff. I still love the guy and would go to war with him, but last night's defensive effort was horrendous. He played the entire game like he had 5 fouls.
