first and foremost I bench Fields. He stinks on the floor next to Amare and Stat. He just does nothing but stand around the perimeter like Gallo did his rookie year.
The one change I would make is this:
PG Douglas
SG Billups
I'm relying on that backcourt heavily. Its been our best. VDesai and I were chatting and he was talking about how well Douglas plays when there is another PG type on the floor, whether it be AC or Billups.
So I'm going with that starting line up and everyone but Turiaf playing pretty heavy minutes... 35ish.
After that I bring in Shawn Williams for D and the extra shooter. He's earned it. Carter off the bench at either guard and Fields when Melo or Amare is out of the game and give him some more look on offense.
I would give Sheldon a 6-7 minute burn in the 2nd and 3rd just to bang on KG and big baby and hopefully spell Amare a bit.
I would give JJ the same... 12-15 minutes give or take. I really want to see him on Rondo. Of everyone who has played on the Knicks this year (pre and post Melo trade) JJ has the highest +/- on the team. As bad as he is he's earned some burn here, at least for a look.
So to recap:
I would start:
PG Douglas
SG Billups
SF Melo
PF Amare
C Turiaf
AC first guard off the bench for 12-15 minutes. Fields and ShawnW are the main cogs in the 2nd unit. JJ and Sheldon would get time also.
Thats a ten man rotation, but its really Douglas, Billups, Melo, Amare, Fields and Williams with AC, JJ, Turiaf and Sheldon getting short looks based on effectiveness and matchups
