Over here in NJ I'm switching from Comcast to Version. Now my friend tells me there's no MSG HD on Verizon. Does anyone know any details on this? Will I really be watching the first NY playoffs in 7 years in crappy quality?

Will the first round of the playoffs be broadcast on a national channel?

I'm in Union County and have to deal with that. It sucks. BIGTIME. No MSG in high def. Its the worst signal also. It was so bad I used to struggle to tell the difference between Fields and Gallo.

Overall I definatly prefer Verizon to Comcast. I've had Verizon for 2 years now, had Comcast forever. I like Verizon a lot better but the MSG thing is a big downer

I have Time Warner and Dolan runs his commercials on MSG every day about how Cablevision has the Knicks in HD and Verizon doesn't. It's funny because the reason Verizon doesn't is because Dolan's greedy self is suing his competition and preventing them from having it in their lineup. Dolan is afraid of Verizon since his worthless and expensive service is being let go for Verizon. These are the steps he's taking to prevent Knicks fans from joining the competition.

Union County as well, had Comcast forever too. I'm happy to hear that Verizon is way better -- except this MSG bs.

When will the playoffs schedule be set? Does anyone know if the first round of the playoffs is only being televised on MSG?

Playoffs wont be on MSG so you're good.

Pretty sure these playoffs will be on either TNT or ESPN for the first round.

couldn't agree more with this statement. cablevision/optimum is an abortion of a cable/broadband product.

i'm torn. i work in IT so i'm obviously i'm techy. i'm moving in july and i'm going to an area where both comcast/fios are offered. i seriously wants fios because it has the fastest internet speeds and the actual TV product is very good and infact its cheaper than both comcast and cablevision i believe too. i've had comcast before when i lived at my parents house - not a bad product. and i currently have cablevision which is an atrocity. the cable packages are horrible, its expensive as ****, the guide is worthless and the broadband is just OK, BUT it has MSG.

so i don't know if i should get comcast just to get MSG HD or suck it up and get fios which is better in every respect, except of course because dolan is a greedy ******* and doesn't want fios to have MSG HD. no matter what, this guy find a way to annoy the **** out of me every single day somehow.

I'd go with Cablevision for TV and FIOS for Internet. MSG in SD is worse than watching it online.

MSG always broadcasted in the 1st couple of rounds...i thought. They do a double broadcast. I like listening to Clyde.

Stick with Verizon FiOS. I have had Verizon FiOS for over a year and it comes loaded with a huge array of HD channels (more than I can keep up with), and the internet is blindingly fast. I love having lightning-speed internet and crystal-clear high-definition channels (including MLB TV, NBA TV, NFL TV, Showtime, MTVHD, etc). It is a reliable service.

I was truly bummed to learn how Dolan screwed Verizon over and that MSG HD was not available on Verizon FiOS. You will just have to get used to watching the Knicks in SD... it sucks, but it's not worth losing the fast internet-speeds and other HD channels for. Additionally, every so often (such as last night) when the Knicks are featured in a nationally televised game, you can always catch them on ESPN.

my 2 cents

FIOS isn't in my area yet, but I am itching to get me some fast internet access. But watching MSG in SD is almost a deal breaker. I may have to suck it up and pay the exorbitant fee for DOCSIS 3 from Time Warner. That way I'd get MSG HD and have fast internet. Decisions, decisions.

i've been reading that verizon has actually enhanced the picture quality of the standard to upscale to a higher form of 480p recently. judging from alot of people's responses, alot of them said the msg non-hd picture quality is much better than it was. sounds good to me.

here is what I have noticed. Most Knick games are not only SD, but the poorest quality I get of ALL the stations. Sometimes road games come in better, but whatever they are pumping out of MSG is pure and total poop. If you look closely you see the corn and peanuts Melo ate yesterday its so poopy

I live in Morris County and would switch to FIOS in a second if they had MSG HD. My only option is to go DirecTV. Even Dish network doesnt have MSG SNY or YES

I've been watching the season on my laptop with live feeds. It's amazing how bad it is. I feel like a Russian trying to pirate Radio Free Europe on a shortwave radio or something. The thought of watching the season on HDTV is like a futuristic fantasy.

Be happy you get it at all. I have Dish so I've been denied NYK games unless they're on TNT or ESPN thanks to their little contract dispute this past fall.
