The Portland Trail Blazers have signed center Earl Barron for the remainder of the season, it was announced today by General Manager Rich Cho.

Barron, 29, has played parts of five seasons with Miami (2005-08), the New York Knicks (2009-10), Phoenix Suns (2010-11) and Milwaukee Bucks (2010-11), posting career averages of 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 15.1

We could have used him. but D"Antoni don't really like Center of something. Or he think he can burn out Amare.

neither is jeffires, actually jeffires is all around terrible

Jeffries does something barron doesn't do which is play help defense and has the ability to guard every position on the floor. What exactly is barron good at? What is his meal ticket like jeffries versatility? Centers are hard to come by and hes been cut by multiple teams and is nearly 30.

You gotta chuckle at 50win teams picking up guys like Nazr and Barron and we tell ourselves there's no chance in heck they crack the rotation here as they aren't better than anybody on the roster.

I do think there's something to be said for not constantly turning your team over, and the Knicks have already turned over quite a bit of the roster this season.

But, yes, size should be a priority here regardless of the aforemention

panos, what's up bro? haven't talked to you in a bit, hope all is well.

i disagree that jeffries is vastly overrated defensively. watching him play, he rotates better than anyone else, which in turn, makes him very good at help defense and he plays the passing lanes better than anyone else on the team. his game isn't close to pretty but i think he's a hell of a lot more effective than a guy like earl barron.
