("strategic"... sheesh)

... or was the whole VanGundy thing overblown?

We finally get to watch how D'Antoni prepares for a series against one team, and how he makes adjustments from game to game.

Beating Miami or Boston is more than a notion because enthusiasm and offense will not be enough.

How will the Knicks match up defensively?

Mike clearly does make small adjustments. He's been switching who he uses at C depending upon the matchup. If the other team goes with a quick lineup he'll sometimes go away from Shelden and use Turiaf or Jared. However, overall he's a system coach and he's not gonna go away from what he wants to do. The team hasn't been an all out running team since he's been in NY anyway and now we're even slower, so it's not that big of a deal. We already can play playoff style BB.

What will be interesting IMO is to see how STAT, Melo and CB do carrying the team. We don't go into this without any experience, which is a great plus. Our top players have been here before and so has our coach. This is why Walsh went with Mike. Not only is he a top coach, but he's been thru the wars all the way up to the Conference Finals. CB has won a Title and I can only imagine how positively that can effect the locker room. We're experienced at Key positions and that helps the younger guys, cuz they don't have to carry the action. So long as Mike, STAT, Melo and CB are in synch things should be good.

It will be really interesting to watch and see how his team comes out in that first game and then over the course of a series. Weren't there some years where JVG took the team back to Charleston to have a mini training camp to get ready?

That was something Pat Riley started. A mini boot camp.

The Knicks also started the tradition of wearing black shoes for the playoffs. Nice touch.

the Key is Billups must get everyone involved. If he starts shooting too much our defense will break down.I noticed that in several games when Billups drives up the court and do not give touches and he just shoots the 3 with his team running around they start getting lazy and not defending. When all of the team is involved in touching the ball they are more agressive on defense.

I will give Pringles credit for this. I'm a believer in sticking to what you do well. Little adjustments, however, are need to optimize. I like it when coaches take this approach

yeah, those 3s coming up the court are always out of sync. It always feels much better to get a pass from the within the paint, and thats just watching the game. It has got to be that much more comfortable for the team to play inside out.

SSOL can take many forms. Chances are the Mike D'Antoni has ENCOURAGED Chauncey Billups to take that quick shot from the top of the key if it is there.

In this this offense, Billups is one part facilitator and one part World B Free.

Indeed just my impression but I gather if you have an open look you are supposed to take it with the expectation that you will knock down a good portion of them since they are so open.

Saw more pushing the ball up the floor last game. Hope it continues.

life is adaptability, it is all life is, a big test of if you can adapt. the best coaches adapt, i think we see mda adapt like a lepper, because he has adapted to 50 different rosters already, all different squad makeups, all these things, look at him adapt this year, on the fly, small hiccups each time but ultimately very successful.

coach mda is very good coach for knicks, for next 20 years i want him here.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.
