Maybe the guy doesn't want to stick around past his current contract. Dolan would not want to be publicly embarrassed by offering a contract extension and getting shot down. From Donnie's perspective, he's done what he set out to accomplish - why does he need to prolong the pain of dealing with an idiot owner and Isiah's shadow looming over him?

We will likely never know. IT could be as evil as Dolan being pig headed and as innocent as Donnie wanting to bask in the warmth of a good life and maybe cut back on his duties.

Donnie just might have the physical strength to do the job anymore althought his mind is sharp and his experience vast.

He has a big job that is very demanding in many ways. Maybe its just time for him to go on his own terms.

Thats cool. He is a class act and its been great having him over the delusional prophet Isiah.

Except I don't think that's how Donnie works. There never would be a public offer. There would be a discussion, there would be a framework, and if Donnie didn't like either he would tell Dolan that his wife is calling and save face for everyone.

I've thought about Walsh being older and wanting to retire- but Dolan, if he were legit, after the work Walsh has done, would extend an offer he couldn't refuse.

But he isn't. Amazing how someone like that can have all the money in the world, and still be a complete idiot & putz.

Money doesn't buy smarts. Money does buys people who have smarts.

Donnie is plenty wealthy. He doesn't "need" the job. If he feels as if he laid the groundwork, I could easily see him retiring or moving back to a more cush job in Indiana. Dolan is such a douche bag, why stay longer than necessary. He got us our two superstars and cap flexibility. The rest of the rebuild should be MUCH easier now.

I can see him retiring. The guy is 70 years old...how much longer is going to want to do this for anyway. Either way, I'm happy that he made his way here and able to do what he did.
