Nuggets' Mosgov helped off court with knee, ankle sprain

DENVER (AP) -- Center Timofey Mozgov sprained his left knee and ankle in the first quarter of the Denver Nuggets' game against Oklahoma City on Tuesday night and was helped to the locker room.

Mozgov cut into the lane from the right corner, took a pass from Kenyon Martin with 2:44 left in the first quarter and was about to go up for the layup when Thunder defender Nick Collison fell into him while drawing the charge from Martin.

Mozgov's left leg buckled and he immediately fell to the floor, where he stayed for a minute while team medical personnel tended to him.

Mozgov, who was coming off his best game since being dealt from the New York Knicks in the Carmelo Anthony trade, was helped off the court, hopping until he reached the tunnel to the locker room, where he grimaced as he tried to put weight on his injured leg.

Many feared that Nuggets big man Timofey Mozgov would be out for the season, following a nasty fall on Tuesday.

But he is expected to be out 10-14 days, due to a Grade 2 sprain in his ankle (deltoid ligament) and a Grade 1 MCL sprain of the knee.

The ankle is the more serious injury, but there were not any fractures.

The Nuggets postseason will probably start 10 days from now.

Even though Mozgov doesn't play much, the Nuggets anticipated he would be key off the bench in the postseason. He played well against the Lakers last Sunday, providing size and rebounding.

Yup. Hope they do the right thing by him and put his career ahead of a single year where he likely couldn't do much anyway.
Not at all a fan of the 'playing thru injuries school' Think TD would have been a better player all year if he takes a week off to heal his shoulders. The all-star break he got would have been the proof. Billups should not have come back as soon as he did.
