Tomorrow is April 1, has anyone heard anything. I have heard speculation of retirement and I have heard it speculated that he will go back to Indiana. I have not heard any rumors about him staying. Does anyone know what is going on with Donnie or what the most recent rumor is?

Apr 1 was to exercise the option. Isn't Dolan still able to negotiate a change (e.g., new) contract between now and June?

April 30th is the date, not the 1st. Either way he's probably gone.

Sad to say, but I do think the end is near. It wouldn't be that bad if we added someone like Kevin Pritchard. But what are the chances of that happening?

During the Melo Trade Press Conference Dolan stated he had until June 30th to make a decision on him....although everywhere I've seen it printed has stated it's April 30th. So does the actual contract expire April 30th but he has 2mos to make a decision to retain him? That doesn't make sense as he'll still be performing duties. I've also read Mark Warkentein his last hire contract expires July 1rst so I do wonder if June 30th is more official.

Regardless I don't care if we retain him or not, just don't replace him with incompetency.

Doubtful.

Going by the history of this regime, he will hire a puppet.

Dolan has until 30 April to trigger an automatic 1 year extension on Walsh's contract. If that doesn't happen, he has until 30 June to extend Walsh's contract beyond that date. Simple as that.

Isiah Thomas wants to Draft Isiah Thomas............

Could Walsh actually draft Isiah Thomas, and if so, might that pacify Dolan?

Thanks for the clarification....sounds like Dolan made a point to mention June 30th

well, his point is correct. All the media kept brining up 30 April as a supposed drop dead date, which it is not.

From Mitch Lawerence:

CONTRACT SPORT
Knicks president Donnie Walsh recently went to Garden boss Jim Dolan about getting extensions for a couple of people in his basketball department, but Dolan declined, according to a league source familiar with the discussion. Who were the underlings? Doesn't matter because Dolan told Walsh he wasn't going to give out any extensions until he resolves Walsh's situation. As far as that goes, Dolan didn't provide Walsh any insight into what he's thinking. Must be that Dolan is still waiting to hear back from Isiah Thomas on what to do

Walsh is leaving. He is being treated like dirt by James Dolan - aka fat silver-spoon moron.

I just don't understand how anyone wouldn't extend Walsh.. It seems like such an obvious move. Could Dolan really be that dumb? Who would replace him?

I am confused why Dolan is being painted as the bad guy.

Walsh trying to get "his guys" extended when he has one foot out of the door. This would be the equivalent of extending Phil Webber before extending D'Antoni.

Dolan is a complete dolt. He obviously has no sense of self-awareness or timing. Consider the disgraceful ticket hikes or his Isiah extension a couple of years back. If not Walsh, my guess is H20.

I wonder if he was trying to make Dolan blink with such a request to gauge his own situation.

Papabear Says

Maybe Dolan didn't like the way Walsh gave up Crawford and Zach. We could have went to the playoffs that year and still had time to trade them for LeCon and Maybe got better deals for them and draft picks. Then the Hill thing. We get a 7th or 8th pick and sit him on the bench? Maybe Dolan told Walsh to speak with D'Antoni about playing certain players and D'Antoni ignored Walsh and Dolan is mad about that. I don't think it's about Zeke. Dolan is upset about something that Walsh did or didn't do.
