Dear Mr. Walsh:

I understand. At an age where you could be kicking back and savoring the sunset, you are sandwiched between a brat and a hard place. You may feel the extra effort and time is not worth the hassle. But please reconsider. We need you to finish what you started. Without you, things will only disintegrate into chaos.

It must feel like an impossible task, but we who support you feel your pain. So without any fanfare, here is a friendly suggestion. Keep five guys. Everyone else can take a hike.

If Anthony and Stoudemire are the core you gotta encourage them to share with others. You need Chauncey for leadership. Sure, he is homesick but having him for one more season will help establish the new halfcourt playing personality. Landry Fields is a perfect sixth man. The rookie can stay. Shawne Williams shows signs of being a willing defender. Keep him away from Memphis and keep him as a backup to Melo.

After that, you do not have much to work with. Toney Douglas is a tentative lead guard who backs up on his dribble as if the paint is made of quicksand. Anthony Carter is tough as nails but he is 57 years old. Jared Jeffries singular contribution of taking charges is not enough. I would rather have Candace Parker playing center over her husband, who will go unnamed. Bill Walker was fun while it lasted. There is no bench, so you may as well start over.

If you can find another undercover center (or two) from Europe, Asia or Africa it would be a miracle. We miss Mozgov. If you decide on Kemba Walker or Jonas Valanciunas we promise not to boo on draft night. If you decide to make another outrageous move with Jamie Skeen, we will promise not to complain. We trust your judgment. We also understand that it is a thankless job where you can be over-ruled at any moment. There are three guys jockeying for your job. The natives are restless, the media is salivating over the next juicy rumor, money is tight and the draft picks are few. It isn't pretty.

Please stay. We need you.

Yours for better Knicks basketball,

The Answer Man

Dear Mr. Earl Answermen,

Thank you for your lovely letter. We need more insightful fans as yourself to be the voice of the fans and encourage than just hate!

I am a big fan of the UK btw and enjoy the ramblings of many. The Alba thread is favorite and the "Bukkake" tournament leading up the season really "gets me up" for things.

Earl, the prophet "Mr. John Paycheck" once said "take this job and stuff it" might hold more wisdom for me more than I care to think. James Dolan the owner of the team is a pathetic little man with little sense of reality and intelligence. HIs worship of the troll Isiah looms large and are blindsided by his presence even when he is under an Ambien coma. Its a powerful drug and there are those who have been know to drive cars and eat meals without any recall. Isiah to this day has called GM's recently and so far has traded many of our players and our draft picks for the 27 years. Our second round picks for 43 years and $196,000,000 in $3 million dollar increments. At first it was amusing but FIU is getting worried. He claims no memory of this even though Marbury is enrolled in classes and was thought he had 3 years of eligibility left.

I would be happy to come back and really I want not just my 3rd year but an extension.

Please feel free to write, and tell the Melo lovers we appreciate the support.

Personally I hate the god damn trade! I had the deal right where I wanted it and Denver was gonna deal with me on my terms but like a 16 year old boy getting in bed with a 20 year old whore, little Jimmy just could not keep it together.

Regards,

Donnie Walsh

Damn, Nalod. That may be one of your best posts ever. I think it should be stickied in the "classic threads" area for sure. Hilarious, and I could even imagine Donnie Walnuts writing it himself.

And all this time I thought it was an abstract funny man kind of thing.

Is there a search feature too?

We've had Ignore function for about year. Search has been Bip's baby for about a decade.

Is the absence of search a server/bandwidth issue, or is it just not implemented yet? Does the forum asp application your using have that feature?

you can do this with google advanced search select ultimateknicks.com as the url to search.

Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."

"What I see is, I still got to get players to put around him to help (Amare). He can do what he can do great, but we've asked him to do what's beyond him. I know what I have to add to this team. We need bigger people on the team. We need more of them."

Whoa. Let's keep Toney Douglas and maybe Anthony Carter, too, dangit. Everyone else after the top 6 needs to be upgraded.

Find a center.

One is not enough.

The Knicks will need to find three centers. There is no guarantee that Jordan is ready, although it is a nice thought.

Donnie knows if the Knicks are serious about maximizing their frontcourt talent, Toney Douglas not only can, but MUST take a hike. Why? He does not provide the floor management skills demanded by having two stars on the court at the same time. He has not demonstrated ANY ability to orchestrate or direct the talents of Anthony or Stoudemire. Whatever the Two Amigos have produced has been the direct result of solo performances.... not the guidance of Douglas, who is content to hand the ball off at the arc. He is who he is. The Knicks have Chauncey Billups as designated backcourt three point specialist. There is no need for a duplicate skill set.

The best thing would be to bring a quicker guard who can change the pace. A dictator, not a follower. Someone who can provide a spark when needed, and who is not allergic to the paint. A 6'6 defender would be nice. Forget the individual scoring, give me ASSISTS!

Douglas has shown little ability, or willingness, to penetrate, and make the pass. An alert lead guard with a "TQH" ("traffic-quality-handle") would average 10 assists, easy, with Melo and Stat as his first options.

Anthony Carter can stay as 12th man, to provide a hard rock practice matchup for Kemba Walker.

But that's as far as I'm going.
