No one can deny that for one night, Melo carried this team and silenced all the critics—played solid D and shot the sh!t out of the ball. I am pretty confident that this kid can handle the pressure here in NY and i see good things in the future for this team.

This move to NY is probably the best thing to happen to Melo and the losing streak is actually a blessing in disguise. Why do I say this? The challenge of playing here and winning here either reveals character or exposes a lack of it. Melo can't hide here. The spotlight is always on and people will call you on your game. If you don't pass, play team ball or defend, you will be called on the carpet for that. He's felt the pressure of that and has made changes.

Another reason is that the losing streak has forced Melo to deal with issues that in the past he's been able to just skate by, because his team was winning games. Here he's had to face his failings cuz the team isn't winning with him playing the way he always has. This means he's had to step up and make some changes. In the end I think it will have a positive effect on him. He'll grow to learn what it takes and that he's always had the talent to do more and when he does he can be the great player he wants to be. This city has crushed many players in different sports, but the signs have been good for STAT and Melo. If Melo can keep this up it will serve him well and this team will have a bright future.

Melo wont be this on-fire every night, but we gotta ride him like this for a while. Amare ain't looking so hot. I hope he can rebound by playoffs and it isn't something more serious, like his knees.

He was cold the first half and shot the **** out of the ball in the second, no disputing that.

Yup, he only had 6 points at the half. He went nuts in the 2nd half.

finally the coach said the right things that properly motivated him to play defense. Obviously the coach should get all the credit

Why not? He gets all the blame when they lose. Congrats to MDA for scoring 39 at SF

exactly. MDA doesnt provide Melo with the proper motivation then Melo just jacks his 30 and doesnt lift a hand on defense and collects his massive check like normal. Clearly MDA is turning the corner and getting this coaching thing down finally

“He was so locked in,” said point guard Chauncey Billups, who contributed 17 points, six assists and no turnovers. “He was grabbing extra rebounds, extra effort plays, steals, blocked shots. You knew that he wanted to win this game. He was not going to let us lose this game. When you get him focused like that on both ends, you’re talking about maybe the best player in basketball.”

very frustrating that level of effort isnt the norm. Tell me again why this guy is a star and championship player? If he played like that in the losses I would have no worries or doubts the KNicks would fix their issues. Having to worry about Melo's effort on a nightly basis is a problem

Even I don't hate him. Now that we have him, I just wish he would take better advantage of his physical gifts--better shot selection, look to create for others more, and always play hard on D. I don't hate him but I find him incredibly frustrating.

I think Melo will realize that he has to play like this everynight. Knicks fans will not accept anything less. He was coddled in Denver but he's in NYC now. I think he's starting to get it and am excited to see if he continues to play this way.
