Knicks Could Eventually Offer Carmelo Or Amar'e For Howard
Mar 28, 2011 6:22 PM EDT

It wouldn’t be shocking at all if the New York Knicks make a play for Dwight Howard next season, perhaps offering either Amare Stoudemire or Carmelo Anthony at trade deadline.

Howard can become a free agent after the 11-12 season, and the Magic will be nervously waiting for the NBA’s most dominant big man to make a decision.

If they don’t want to wait and risk losing him without compensation, the Magic could listen to trade offers for Howard next season.

LOL at Amare and Howard in the same front court. If anything Melo would be retained to play with Howard.

Personally I like Amare and Melo because they can both defend, when they feel like it, and can light you up with jumpers.

This is a pipe dream folks.

Definitely, but is Orlando dumb enough to do it?

I doubt it.

Rose is not the answer.

The Magic do it so their superstar doesn't leave, the Knicks do it to get better defensively. I don't know if it's realistic because I don't know if Orlando would want to build around an unhappy Anthony or Amar'e, but it makes a lot of sense for the Knicks either way.

Howard and Amar'e would be perhaps one of the best frontcourts in the history of the NBA. They both have the games to compliment each other as well

I can't think of any team which would have a better inside/outside game than Howard/Melo as much as I respect Stat.

What if Howard does not want to sign with Orlando or want to test the free market?

Kobe is getting old and I know that he has some great runs in him but in 2012 even with Howard the Lakers don't win a championship. If we get a big Center and you better beleive Gallo will be back with the Knicks in 2012 we will make the money fit F### Denver we won't trade for him we are just taking him and Moz. Get ready for the big payback.

I don't see Howard going anywhere. Why leave and play in L.A. for a few years with Kobe? I think he stays put. It's not like Orlando doesn't have talent and isn't surrounding him with qality players. Richardson, Turkoglu, Bass, Nelson are all ballers.
