This losing streak is going to do 1 of 2 things.

1. It will bring the team closer together.
2. It will tear apart the team and MDA will be gone.

I really don't see a bad thing either way. Thoughts?

I don't think they should be taking a day off. I wish a team leader got the players together to practice on their own. These guys have to have some sense of urgency about this. It wasn't that long ago that they were trying to get the 5 seed. Now they are hoping they don't drop to eighth or out.

It seems like our patience (as an organization) went out the window with the Melo deal. Yes, we wouldn't have gone anywhere with that team, but that wasn't the idea. We had the foundation of a championship caliber team, minus one more star. Had MElo come as a FA we would have been close. Now, we got to get lucky to have that same chance. We need a PG and very very good center, to say the least. A strong center is a must when one considers the defense around him.

I can't blame Mike completely. Yeah, he isn't great on defense. But his team is gone, now he has a PG that doesn't fit his system. And he has one of the all time best ISO players in his pass oriented system. Not to mention stat is a recovering ISO player, but is not really the leader per say, talent wise, with MElo here. It's going to take a lot of time. This team needs some crisis intervention help to put it lightly.

Will the team get closer together? It all depends, do we even have a team? I say no. Half of these guys won't be back. We are between a rock and a hard place. How do you implement Mike's system so late in the season? Look at the results thus far when personal don't fit.

It just seems that we need a coach who can best coach what he has. We are not in Mike's ideal situation and I'm not sure if he can adapt, he is awfully inflexible.

Lupica wrote a great article today about how great coaches adjust to their talent and how D'Antoni needs to adjust to his players and put them in the best position to win. For three years now I have heard about how guys aren't right for his system and to give him time etc. He has the talent but it may require a bit of changing on his part to get it to work. He has been very unwilling to change during his time here and in Phoenix so it is going to be interesting. I don't see how canceling three consecutive practices during a six game losing streak helps anything. It is hard not to agree with a guy like Vecsey who says that things like D'Antoni needs to do more than walk the sidelines during games, clap and offer encouragement.

Yeah, I read the article and thought it was great also. Tommy D just did a post on it, and it's nice also. Check the home page here, on the right side.

I think the downfall of D'Antoni is that he doesn't adjust well. In game time situations he waits too long for timeouts, he waits till half time often, to make changes that we see need to be made sooner. And now in the grand scope of things, he is trying to mold players - which isn't exactly terrible, but when it's Melo, you are missing the boat. Post him up clearly.

and if mda is gone, then another person will come in, and they will fail again, and so on for another 10 years.

but the players will never be blamed. melo will never take any blame for being unable to execute his professional duties and unable to follow a coach's gameplan.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Melo and Stat are both ISO players. How long do you think it takes for player, star player to entirely change his way of playing?
It takes loooong time if at all possible.
Should this 2 change their ways? No doubt if they want to win the chip.
If they will not became bigger that they are - team players, they will never win anything with any coach.

Chicago replaced Del Negro with Thibs and things are going very well there. There are a lot of good coaches out there. I don't think a new person is doomed to failure because another guy with a very non traditional approach didn't work out.
