(bootleg alert)

"Fields got lots of easy opportunities on the old team. He moved without the ball and was rewarded for getting open with easy lay ups. Then he hit open 3 point shots off ball movement. That team and offense is history. Fields is usually open under the hoop a few times each game, but no one gives him the rock.

In addition, we have lost the spacing that created the game that Fields played. Fields gets the ball now and there is little movement. He's not able to break down the defense one on one. He tries to move the ball, but we have become a much slower paced team.

Fields needs to be moved to the second unit next year as an energy guy with TD. He is more an uptempo player and shouldn't be paired with Billups.'

Roger Mason is a proven veteran and looking more comfortable on the court. If he was good enough to start for the Spurs...

Why? So we can see more of his no-arc, line drive brick shots clanging off the front of the rim? No thank you. In fact, I'd cut him loose yesterday. He's the worst rotation player on the team and I'm shocked he's on an NBA squad, veteran or not. Dude sucks.

As an energy player, I'd like to see Anthony Carter get some more run. He an TD bring a lot of hustle and movement when they're playing together.

Not a fan of this for two major reasons: First, Mason sucks. Let's be honest, he's good at one thing and terrible at everything else. As for Fields, he should be a starter, if for no other reason, than to keep his stats up. He could be a very valuable piece in trade or he could develop more the more he plays. I actually like Fields a lot, but we should give him playing time so we continue to have at least one player with upside.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

earl... its a good post. The gist is really things arent working, we now have a lot of non matching pieces so what mix will get us the most of what we have right? The problem is we are just devoid of talent

fishmike - exactly

It is a question of compatibility. Bringing Landry "Hondo" Fields as sixth man works perfectly as he recreates the role of Johh Havlicek

The elder Billups and Mason Jr bring a complimentary skill set, and hopefully a skootch more trust, as they are both seasoned vets. Mason has been shooting better of late so the naysayers need to leave his November in the past. Since the crowd started chanting for him, he has seen some productive minutes.

We ARE devoid of talent, which is all the more reason to shake things up and challenge players in new roles, just to make it interesting. What else is there to lose?

It's not who starts but who finishes.

Fields isn't much different that he was before the trade. Had many games where he didn't score/shoot much with the former team aswell. He has been clanging alot of open looks, lately.

I'm glad i didn't play for misterearl. Miss the shot, get the hook!

He's not hitting but hasn't played poorly. The entire team needs to adjust, not just Fields. Hell-to-the-no

Hell-to-the-yeah.

Fields' ball handling and court awareness can provide camouflage and comfort for Toney Douglas' decision-making. Landry also can get more shots with the second unit. If he is on, he stays on the court.

If Jared freakin' Jeffries can start, why can't Roger Mason Junior start?

I dare to say this is one of the worst "why nots" in the forum's history

Maybe. Dare all you want. But if you cannot bring a counterpoint in basketball terms, then you are just sipping on diet haterade.

It's only basketball.

A one-dimensional skill set can only take you so far in the NBA.

I wonder how much his frequently injured knees have stunted his development. Makes the DeJuan Blair story that much more incredible.

walker is useful... he's got a nice complementary offensive game off the bench... he lacks some focus on D but he shows flashes. he did very well on D and on the boards against the heat..

as for mason, at his best, he's a 10th man. walker's better at him at just about everything....

i actually like Mason over Walker he puts forth much better effort on defense & makes smarter decisions w/the basketball... Walker can get hot from 3 pt range & when he does he's good but if not he's not doing much of anything else on the floor... he just fades in & out way too often for my liking, i like Mason's effort level on most nights.

Maybe Roger should start with Lando bringing energy off the bench.

If SSOL is suspended then I suppose for the rest of the season It might not be a bad idea.

I'd like to see us fill in the pieces and SSOL be unleashed with a Melo buy in.

Its fun ball to watch!

Mason's been shooting better but i still would hate this move. I still thnk walker is a more consistent shooter who can pull up with a defender on him. Mason's d is maybe a bit better but neither are very good. We could start Douglas with chauncey, take Billups out soonafter for fields maybe.
