UF and UCLA putting on a nice show. I had no idea Parsons was that good handling the ball. Nice PnR to Young for a two hand

the Purdue/St Peter's game had my favorite moment of the tournament.

Peacocks plucked
By BRIAN LEWIS

CHICAGO -- Nick Leon arrived at St. Peter's five years ago with coach John Dunne, and left clasped in an poignant embrace from his mentor. There were 2½ minutes left in last night's 65-43 second-round NCAA tournament loss to Purdue in the Southwest Region, but the Peacocks' Big Dance dreams -- and their seniors' careers -- were over.

The Peacocks (20-14), who rose from five wins in Dunne's debut to their first MAAC crown since 1995, fell behind 15-4 early and trailed by 27 in the second half. Led by 16 points and 16 rebounds from center JaJuan Johnson and ferocious ball pressure, Purdue steamrolled into tomorrow's third-round matchup against Georgetown or VCU.

"We've been through a lot. It was very emotional. We were sad at the moment, but there were also tears of joy," said Leon, who has had an emotional week. He told ESPN he had been sexually molested as a child by a "friend of the family" and used the NCAA platform to help others who had suffered the same trauma. Now, he was saying goodbye to Dunne, who has counseled him for five years.

"He taught me a lot, how to be a better person. He's been a huge mentor," he said. "I've been through so much, he knows about my history. I didn't have nobody to open up to, I opened up to him and he wasn't scared to listen and guide me the right way, so it was very emotional at that moment."

Third-seeded Purdue (26-7) pressured St. Peter's into 2-of-9 shooting with seven turnovers in the first 7:45. They led 33-17 at intermission and scored the first seven points. The lead grew to 47-20, the Peacocks -- with nobody over 6-foot-7 -- unable to handle E'Twaun Moore, who scored a game-high 19 points, and the 6-foot-10 Johnson, tabbed a first-round pick by Hoopshype.com and NBAdraft.net.

"Sometimes you hope in a 14-3 game they overlook you and you can get some rhythm early. But those guys came out to play," said Dunne, whose team was led by senior Jeron Belin's 12 points but shot just 29.3 percent.
Purdue has won its opener in its last 13 straight NCAA tournament appearances. Guard Ryne Smith (concussion) played but was scoreless on 0-for-5 shooting, while John Hart (foot) sat out. The Boilermakers got 12 points from guard Lewis Jackson.

"We did a really good job of being ready to play," Johnson said. "We didn't want to make it easy for them. Establishing ourselves early was the key."

Jimmer Fredette showing his stuff. BYU in. SDSU in two from the Mountain West

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=310780252

"DENVER -- Look out Big Easy. Here comes The Jimmer.

Jimmer Fredette scored 34 points Saturday to lift third-seeded Brigham Young to an 89-67 victory over 11th-seeded Gonzaga and send the Cougars to New Orleans for the regional semifinals.

It will be BYU's deepest trip in the NCAA tournament since 1981, the year Danny Ainge went coast to coast against Notre Dame for a last-second game-winner -- a play that still holds a special place in BYU's rich sports history.

Fredette has a few dozen of his own clips on that highlight reel with a chance to add some more next Thursday against Florida, a 73-65 winner over UCLA on the other side of the Southeast regional.

In this game, the hoop must have seemed as wide as the Mississippi for the nation's leading scorer.

He shot 7 for 12 from 3-point range, and after having trouble getting shots over Gonzaga's tough defense in the first half, he found his rhythm in the second.

He opened the half by pulling up from 5 feet beyond the upper-right part of the 3-point arc and swishing the shot. That triggered an 11-2 run that put BYU up 56-40.

Gonzaga pulled within eight, but with 8:58 left, Fredette made a shot from the exact same spot as part of a 12-0 run that expanded the lead to 20."

3 ACC teams with a shot at the sweet 16 .. perhaps the most interesting matchup of the day

FSU a team that has the highest rated FG% defense in 10 years vs Hansbrough and the Irish who live by the 3

9:40 gametime

Singleton and Hansbrough are likely high NBA draft picks

Unheard of old Sarge gets no love due to his age but he has been putting on the blocks. Should have had credit for 10 last game one was clean but he still got called for a foul

FSU dominated last night. They were slept on coming in. If Singleton can handle more minutes they are a contender. Their offense has been surprising in the first 2 games.

I had Notre Dame winning the thing- so oh well I guess!

They are deep and talented and coming together nicely. Singleton will I'm sure play more minutes. White is playing well though he doesn't have Cris' range or strength yet but he finishes and defends. And Shannon big as he is can put his elbow in the rim.

GOODNESS GRACIOUS....

Fridette pulled up from his own 20 yard line and SPLASHED.....

His range leaves the Milky Way Galaxy

He shot that like he knew it was going in before he even pulled the trigger

Derrick Williams has been special tonight.

Whoever said this will be a weak draft think again. It's often times, a matter of who declares. Going by the likely hood the Top 100 declare at the usual rate, this summer's draft will possibly be better than the 2009 draft.

Duke is mortal...bye bye.... and now I'm back in the Bracket Ranks

My bracket's already shot to hell. I'll gladly take another hit on it to see Duke bounced out.

At least my Final Four is still in tact (Ohio St/Kansas/UConn/Florida).

You ain't doing too bad if that's your Final Four....Butler threw a wrench in everything for me....But Duke was picked by half the participants in the pool I'm in to win it all.....lol

I have 3 alive with exception to Florida. I need them to lose next and I very well may win everything.

Zona unraveled Duke something crazy in that second half.

I did my bracket in 5 min and it shows. I am done. My four are all cooked.

I wasn't bold in my picks, it was ignorant!

My bracket was busted long ago by Pitt that was an awesome display of relentless pressure that Arizona displayed. Boo-boo is sayin' he is for real 11 dimes vs Purdue.

Kemba scored 36 points last night, 2 points shy of half of his teams points!

Williams is making a case to be the number one pick. Fredette is out and it will be interesting to see where his draft stock goes...

Yeah it was almost like watching a white Nate Robsinson derail the team in the last minutes. At the same time he tried to do what he could to get his team over a very strong Florida team.

I still have Kansas and Florida alive for the final four, but I picked Duke to win it all
