After hearing about how the lack of practice time is to blame for their chemistry issues, Knicks aren't practicing today in MIL.

Need to do chemistry building activities.

I think they are doing laser tag and then the team is going to "Build a Bear" after dinner!

practice? we talkin' about practice? these guys shouldn't have to practice, they should just be winning games no excuses... God Bless the Teflon coach.

MDA can't win. If he plays them long minutes and guys like Amar'e look sluggish he's burning them out. If he gives them a break in the middle of a hectic schedule with only one day off, he's not doing enough cracking of the whip on these guys and is too soft of a leader. This schedule is rough. 2 back to back sets with one day off between. After a pretty busy schedule since the trade. It's a coaches call. Sometimes you have to go with your gut and if you think the team is pressing or overwhelmed whatever, sometimes you have to back off rather than press harder. I don't blame him for trying something different to try and relax these guys a bit. I'm sure they're getting tense over all the things that are going on with the bad losses.

It doesn't help that he has the reputation of not liking practice.

How much did that matter when he was winning 50+ games a year? This is much to do about nothing. He's the coach and has to take the pulse of his team and make a decision. He's been doing this long enough to be given the benefit of the doubt on if it's necessary to give them a break.

I don't know about giving him the benefit of the doubt. There are high expectations for this team and they aren't meshing. Also, I think you earn the benefit of the doubt if you win. D'Antoni has won 96 out of the 237 games he has coached in NY. I think with his track record in ny, his current roster, and how his team is playing, he will be analyzed and second guessed on most of his moves until things get better.

Why do you keep trotting that lame stat out anytime you want to prove a point? You know full well that this roster was changed each and every season the guy has been here and the 1st 2 seasons we were really only trying to clear space for last summer. I doubt any coach would really have had much success under the same circumstances.

Mike has 14 games left to get things in order with this current group. I don't care how he does it. I just want to see this team come together as much as possible by the time the playoffs get here. Days off. No days off. I don't care. Whatever it takes.

I agree with this. I bring up his record because he has been here for awhile and things have not gone well. He has created some drama, alienated some players, devalued some assets, and mishandled some situations. Walsh has always cleared all of this up for him. However, I don't think it doesn't matter and I do think what he has done during that time counts.

what about a walk through? Maybe spend an hour fine tuning players understanding of defense. Would that still be called a practice?

Nalod joked about team building activities but I think he makes a good point. I think the pre trade team really got along well. I think this group is one more loss away from a players only meeting.

So I guess this may answer your question (the film session would have been Saturday when no practice was going on):

Carmelo Anthony broke his silence with the media before today's game vs. the Bucks, but he actually broke it with his teammates in a clear-the-air film meeting in their Milwaukee hotel yesterday in which he told his mates to be patient with him and not to expect him to get that frustrated on the court.
