he wanted to come here. THE MAN forced a trade here and then forced this team to pay through the roof to get him and give him an extension making him probably the higest paid player in the league.

Go be star and make me forget the young player I grew attached to. Amare made me say David Lee who? Melo is making me miss Wilinari Felgov

I'm hoping "Me"lo can play to his best potential, but the man brought this on himself. I want to see us succeed like all of you, but it has to start with the stars on the team and thus far they are lacking. Melo played much much better defense, now he has to just keep that up and not be like a little boy when he gets upset. We need the team to play together, and Melo can adapt and lose some of his ISO ways.

Yup.

He also knew what he was getting into in terms of the NYC media when he got here.

He was part of the manipulations which made the Knicks overpay for him- did he think that fans and the media were ignorant of this and that he would not be judged, or that people would not be looking at how Denver was doing without him there?

Announcer: "Wrong Answer".

The correct answer is "Most NY fans love to WIN."

Want to see how much fans love Melo?

Let see how many fans are loving Melo if the Knicks do not win 48 games next season.

Melo is a little thicker skinned than that I think...I think we now understand why LeBron and Bosh Spice wanted no part of NY...I don't think they could really handle the intensity of this spot light...I think it's different for Melo...He is a tough kid...I don't think he needs the love that LeBron and Bosh does to thrive...

What does it say of your supposed superstar savior that he needs to be coddled and told bedtime stories to succeed.

Give him a glass of warm milk and some cookies.

Melo...needs to mellow. Stars get star treatment and he is a spoiled brat from what I can tell. If the fans see it too he's in for a long haul. If changes his ways he can still get where he wants. Winning fixes everything.

The one thing I think we need to be careful about is that we are going to lose to bad teams from time to time. It happens to every team in the NBA. I'm not going to be all over Melo. I think he's playing pretty decent, except for the last game. My main concern is how do we improve. I think after a while in an MDA rotation, Shawne Williams and Toney Douglas are going to be looking like pretty valuable assets, so maybe there are trade possibilities down the road, who knows.

I'm far more concerned about Billups. Billups is playing as well as he can, but that's the problem. He's clearly on the decline and we would've been much better off with Felton, as some of us mentioned. Felton is surely, a less sexy name, and sure, in the final moments of the game, I'd rather have Billups, but nonetheless, it wasn't a good trade from that standpoint. Really, the whole trade has an ode of total greed, from Melo and Dolan. But, it's done...

Looking forward, I think my biggest concern right now is the only team ahead of us in the standings that we match up well with, is Miami, since they have no supporting cast either. If we don't draw Miami in the first round, we might get embarrassed by any of these teams that have a good big.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Assets?

Draft picks are assets. Players as people crave continuity and stability.

Keep trading away players with tenure (Douglas being the longest) and you have nothing but a crew of mercenaries.

Stop the madness.

Well, it's a best case scenario. In general, I agree. I think we're in trouble. If we don't make Shawne Williams and Toney Douglas look like studs, we basically have no trade possibilities left for years.

Unless you can name a team with a specific need for their skill sets, there is not a single general manager in the NBA blowing up Donnie Walsh's cel phone over acquiring Shawne Williams or Toney Douglas.

Get real.

We just gave away the best talent on the roster.

Well, I think you're saying a similar thing to me, just in a different way. I think 1-4, we're very good. However, when you get past that, we don't have anyone on the entire roster that would be higher than 8th in the rotation for most teams. I'm concerned, because there's some major slots to fill, and I don't think anyone here knows if we're going to fill those this offseason (I assume not) or go for the trio in 2012 before we start rounding out the roster after. That's where the concern is. Of course, the CBA will play a giant role in this.

Sure. I think that squad would also be solid on the defensive end if we had a big man, though.
