This post reminded me of a thread that I had been thinking about:

Gonna lite it up some then roll to the pub for some corned beef and stout ale and watch the Knicks. Maybe tonight will be the night that I see something that makes me care about this team again! Fingers crossed

I have a similar plan. We can hope.

Start Turiaf!

I love Turiaf, but I think the coaching staff gets frustrated as he's made of glass. I mean everytime he breaks 20 minutes some on him breaks

For me, I have been very disappointed by this dude, or perhaps I severely overrated him at the beginning of the year because of his penchant for blocking shots. Could be that the dude has just been injured for about 3 months now with the knee and none of us are privy to that detail.

BRIGGS had started a thread about it some time in November I think and he was right IMHO: Turiaf is a nice second big man off the bench, no where near starter material (I think the starter part we all recognize by now).

He is foul prone, doesn't alway make the smartest decisions on defense (albeit they look all-genius compared to the rest of the Knicks certainly), and is an obvious negative on the offensive end (blah blah he is a good passer, he is a decent passer but he overpasses and because he too readily passes up dunks the defense knows they can play 4 on 5 pretty much while he is out there).

Now, the tough part for the Knicks is that they probably know he will pick up his option for next year. Who else is going to pay this dude $4.3M to play like 15 minutes for 40 games?

Yeah, Turiaf doesn't seem to be able to hold up to the stress of an 82-game schedule.

Remember that game at Portland in January? He basically won it single-handedly in the 4th quarter. 19pts, 10rebs, 3blks, 3 steals in the game or something.

Even if he could give us a dependable 20 minutes a night, we'd be such a better team.

Agreed he's been a big disappointment. It'd be nice if he could get healthy for the playoffs, at least.

Turiaf has been so fragile. I think with his previous heart issues his minutes might always have to be monitored but I am not positive about that. At the start of the season he was very refreshing as the leader on the defensive end. However he has been so fragile that he cannot be counted on.

He gave them 13 minutes tonight with 2 blocks, 2 assists, 3 rebounds and some good hustle.

If he could just give the team 15-20 minutes a night, it'd be such a huge improvement for the defense.

LMAO! I remember when the complaints were about JJ. It is what it is. Maybe he's damaged goods. Maybe he'll always be banged up. And yes, I expect him to pick up his option. But I love his heart and his fire! So he isn't gonna give starter minutes, but I know wether on the bench or on the floor,he will give his all!

yea I think thats the expection.

Martin he just becomes another expiring contract. I think there will be pretty heavy pressure to load this team up this offseason en route to another big 5 for 2 type trade. Turiaf's expiring contract will no doubt be a chip.

LOL. You know, if Turiaf wasn't always hurt and so fragile, I'd be content with him and would just go PG in the draft - if one fell anyway.

His problem is that he is a bad rebounder, playing next to another bad rebounder. And that he is afraid to shoot. Passing out to open 3 pt shooters when you are in position to dunk the ball is just wrong.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Turiaf is a bad rebounder because of his skinny legs. Dude can't hold his ground.

Turiaf is a good player, but not being abel to get on the floor is an issue. When he has his healthy stretches and is able to play consistently we seem to play our best ball. His defense and passing are good.

Meh his pick and roll defense is just as bad as anyone's on our team and he gets in foul trouble. I mean off the bench it's not bad but I would dump him in a heartbeat.
