I may be a little bias cause I'm a Die Hard Knick fan but I really feel Melo is not getting superstar calls or the benefit of the doubt on calls . I've seen bs offensive foul calls more than a few times on him and when he drives to the lane he seems to be getting hit and not getting calls , ever this game against the Hawks where he got called for a bs flop and then he gets smacked in the eye and no call. I've seen Wade draw alot of fouls on ticky tack calls and I don't feel the refs give Melo those same calls maybe cause he's a Knick and I've never seen a Knick other than Ewing get calls who knows.

He is in NY now, nobody gets any calls once they are in NY.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

He got called for one of those charges against the Knicks/Galo. I was not complaining then, but now? I would like to see him get these calls. I think when he starts shooting better, he will get more calls. Since he is a bit off the defender is playing the drive and beating him to the spot.
so here is what phil is thinking ....

Because he's not a superstar! But really, he's not. He's not Lebron and he's not Kobe, he's a class below them or two.

He did get away with that foul on Lebron when Stat blocked the shot.

The only people who are Lebron and Kobe are Lebron and Kobe. Melo is right there though. The only SF in the game that can be argued for over Melo is Durant.

I don't know if LeBron is getting LeBron calls anymore.

If he was less blatant about charging into people and traveling, he might.

No one likes the way this trade was done not even the refs. The refs are complaining they want more money. They are teaching him a lesson. When this summer comes Melo will realize that he could have waited. Pieces that we got back were good peices but older pieces who will be done in a few years.

The reason he is not getting any superstar calls is because he is a strong individual. He needs to sell it a little. Maybe scream when he gets hit.

Exactly..he's lowering his shoulder on some, the other night in cleveland was as blatant as ever, he's knee was in the guys chest. He is one of the best mid range shooters in the game yet he drives more then he should, and since he's so strong he just bullies his way through sometimes.

I loved the trade. So did most NBA analysts. So did many players. Some of us even think we didn't give up all that much. He wouldn't have waited, he would've signed an extension right after the trading deadline. So, I don't know why the refs would mirror complaining forum types and not give calls.

i love bully ball and melo's ability to wreak havoc with it. he's gotta gauge the refs' rulings on a given night and he does need to sell more.

Marv is right. You can do two things. 1) Be as good as Kobe, Shaq, LeBron, Wade or Duncan. Or you can do a better job selling your fouls without getting on the refs bad side. Melo can do either and both IMO, so it's up to him.

Which goes to say, this shouldn't even be an issue. The NBA refs act like WWE refs on given nights, and I'm not talking about conspiracy stuff. I'm just saying they are flat out stupid at times. They really can't distinquist a flop from a foul? Or do they just make calls based on how impressed they are with the flop? Either way, it's not good.
