3 losses to the Cavs by giving up 109, 115, and 119 tonight. 90% of the time, he draws up a 3 point shot right out of a timeout, which is ridiculous.

D'antoni supporters, man up.

I regret saying we could beat Chicago in the first round.

As long as this guy is on the sidelines, we're getting romped.

Whenever the excuses for ineffective coaching stop and D'Antoni is evaluated for his job performance during his tenure in NY it seems like an obvious decision to me to move on. I also think that with Billups and Melo this is a half court team.

What I don't understand is how he doesn't comprehend when another team is making a run. Why does he call a time out when they tie the game up, never when they cut into the lead doesn't he sense that the other team is making a run. Not a great coach to much gimmick not enough substance.

The first thing he mentions in the press conference is "shots."

Papabear Says

Poor coaching. He should have called time out when Cleveland was making a run. He didn't. We wanted Carmelo !! D'Antoni wanted Jefferies instead on a big man to clog up the middle. Cleveland had easy shots all night. The Knicks players are not accepting thier roll. Toney Douglas takes the ball and runs into a crowd of Cleveland players and have no where to go and he turns the ball over.

Over the last 2 and a half seasons, despite all of the moving parts and numerous players traded away and brought in, the 2 constants have been MDA on the sidelines and a lack of defense.

D'antoni gets outcoached almost everygame. He just happens to have better players that usually beat the other team

In order to win, you have to be able to score the basketball. I get that.

But to stress it as much as D'antoni does is just downright idiotic.

I knew holding Miami to 86 was a fluke game.

My guess is that there will be several articles on Sunday about how the team practiced defense for forty minutes on Saturday.

The more this team loses games like we did tonight to the damn Cavs, the more the trap door opens under MDA's feet.

MDA doesn't know when to call a timeout or tell his team to foul down the stretch, and isn't coaching this team to capitalize on and maintain leads. He is good at offense, but neglects the defensive end.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I think I just figured out how we could beat the Cavs.

If we do what BRIGGS suggested (trade Carmelo for both of their lotto picks), we just might have a chance.

D'antoni supporters, man up.

Firing is only part of the fix.

We suck at guarding the perimeter and guarding the paint.

Regardless of the coach.

Teams that are not strong at those positions, we usually beat.

Otherwise, it's going to be a mismatch every time.

We have to either double the pg, and leave wide open threes....Or we get our bigs in foul trouble!

And we are too small in the middle...STAT plays timid so he doesn't pick up fouls....Also, STAT has terrible defensive IQ. Same with TD. They are athletes, and will get some steals....But their IQ on defense kills us.

Add that to our coach should really be an assistant coach, with coach K or a JVG type as the main coach!

I agree. 92-132. How long much longer do the Knicks go on before they consider that maybe there is a problem with the coach.

Shut it. Don't you know, you have to make the other team adjust to you. You don't try to adjust to them otherwise you're just playing catch up.

WIth D'Antoni we can lose to any team on any night. This team will go as far as its D will carry it. Before we get the usual suspects telling us how this team isn't built for D and you have to cach to your strengths, realize this; No team has ever won a championship without good D. And Mike D'Antoni will never have this team play good D consistently because he doesn't believe that defense really wins games. Perhaps he sees it was the other team lost because their offense wasn't good enough.

He actually has improved in that area. In the past it has been reported that his players have said they never worked on defense. He has talked about giving his players a folder about a teams tendencies before games and has shown film of his team playing zone defense and broke down how to play it. He is still extremely inadequate as a coach in this area but he at least is acknowledging it is a part of the game by his actions and not just his words. I don't think this is a team that has the time to wait for a rigid guy who only addresses one part of the game to possibly evolve into a complete coach. The Knicks are three years into D'Antoni's tenure.
