While I think the Giant trade was a needed move (since he won us a superbowl) and the Melo trade was a needed move too, I think in both cases, they were bidding against themselves and overpaid drastically.

In regards to the Eli trade, Rivers was out there and so was Rothlisberger and they might have been better off with either of them. And though it still worked out for the Giants it possibly could have been better.

I don't think the Melo move will hurt the team like the Marbury move and it might work out well but it possibly could have been better too. If Melo brings us just one ring like Eli, I think we would all be Pretty Pretty Good.

And I don't think the Giants would turn back the clock on this move either. As Ernie Accorsi stated: "sometimes you have to overpay to get stars"

And Carmelo Anthony is definitely a star!

Eli helped us win a Super bowl, can't put a price on that.

He is the perfect example of - you don't have to be great in NY but if you bring us 1 ring, we will love you forever. C'mon Melo! Just one ring is all I ask for.

This might not be fair for Melo but this trade will only be succesful if he brings a championship back to NY. Eli trade already paid dividends.

to second guess it all, if giants kept the assets and kept Phil Rivers (who maybe the better qb) might have they won anyway? OR even won a second one?

Too many variables to say. NO doubt it was a good trade and it all worked out but the fun is thinking "What if".

You do a trade like we did the expectation is higher. Otherwise why make the trade?

People say that but Rivers has played on some chargers teams loaded with talent and still has came up short.

Your basis to the discussion is WRONG. The Knicks were NOT bidding against themselves. Do you read the papers??? The Nets were bidding also and Melo was ready to go to the Nets and sign an extension. You may say they overpaid but it was the ONLY way to complete the trade. How many days in a row do we have to go over the same things?

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Eli has won a Championship and ruined the perfect season of the much despised Patriots to go along with the Championship.
Even after accomplishing all that, the fact that some people are still harping on what was given up for him in a trade speaks volumes about the inability to please some fans no Matter WHAT the outcome.

Judging by this, Even if the Knicks won their first Championship in almost 40 years some people will still harp on what we gave up to get Carmelo.

Some fans just can't be satisfied no matter what.

Absolutely. We just need an upgrade in the RB spot. I think BJac is losing some power and Bradshaw's fumbling problems is going to be a big problem. Looking for Jints to pickup a RB in the first round.

I think we need another elite receiver (I am willing to roll the dice on Plaxico, but Jerry wouldn't consider it) and some depth on the O-line and linebackers. Jacobs and Bradshaw are fine if they get solid blocking.

I agree about the O-Line - killed us last year. Eli as with most QB's but especially the non-scramblers are night and day when given time. Their secondary play well below expectations as well. Not crazy over Coughlin and Fewell is overrated.

Go Giants!

Oh and Go Knicks too :-) but Giants are my #1 by far.

The funny thing is that WR was a strength in the beginning of the season.

Until Nicks went down followed by Steve Smith - the receivers are not the issue. Though wouldn't mind Plax coming back with a chip ala Vick.

HaHaHaHaHa. I ROFLed so hard when I read that! Are you serious man? Melo was ready to go to the Nets but Nuggs still traded him to us, and btw they said they didn't want to trade him to us? This is the silliest assumption i've read in at least a year. Do you read the papers??? HAHAHAHAHA

It's crazy cause a superbowl win has bought him a pass on a couple questionable seasons. I will take a championship every decade like the Giants have given us. If Knicks win one I would literally go insane.

Melo like Eli? Did the Gmen trade 60% of their starting line up and 2 years of draft picks? Not even close

Melo is a superior player to Gallinarri. Please find me one person who is not a delusional homer would disagree with that.

Chauncy Billups is better than Raymond Felton. Mosgov was NOT our starting center for very long was he? As a matter of fact I KNOW Sheldon Williams is better than him.

2 years of drafts picks? Some second rounders and a first rounder? Right. Because we would have drafted starters on the All Star Team with our great 38th pick from GS this year and our 22nd pick next year.

Melo is ten times the player Eli is. Eli was lucky to be on a such a great team. He is a sort of above average player. Not a top TEN player like Carmelo Anthony.

I don't care what people think. People are stupid. - Charles Barkley
