I've been a member of UK for a long time. Don't post much but I read everyday.

When I first started coming here I'd look for insights on trades, players and games that I couldn't find in the NY papers or anywhere else. The discussion here was always smarter and more involved than that of ESPN or other places that didn't really know the team.

But as of late that's changed. I take a look at the threads here and their reactions are more knee-jerk than even the Post. It's almost like the roles have been reversed. There's hardly any engaging conversation any more. And if there is, then it's usually about how the Knicks have made the wrong moves. Which is very surprising when you consider that this forum has been the biggest bunch of homers even during the depths of Layden and Isiah, Keith Van Horn and Marbury.

For post game analysis I check Tommy Dee and Alan Hahn and then my habit is to check out UK for the real discussion. But more and more often, there's none to be found. The worst thing is, we're at the beginning of what's bound to be an amazing resurgence for our New York Knicks.

Has anyone else noticed this problem? And what do we do to bring back the meaningful discussion that is UK?

Yeah...but you can see posters coming back around. Hang tough. Martin and team generally herd the extremists back in line. The UK get together generally helps post trade deadline wounds.

I'm happy earl is back...evil is posting positive as well.

Even simrud has been supporting.

Most of the bad posts are from those that bogg down good posts, and they were grasping ahold of the ad feelings from the trade.

Tonights well timed win will begin the healing.

Go Knicks!

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

Actually what has happened is number of knee jerk posts and posters has gone up dramatically. The insightful posts are still here, they are just a lot harder to find. I used to think the same until I started looking for some of the smarter knick fans that have things to say.

Way too much negativity. Very tough to read even after the Knicks win.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

We need a committee of our best posters to preside over a UK Censorship Board of Posters, which we can call "CBOP." Andrew and Martin can appoint them, or a vote will be needed.

CBOP members will have the task of reviewing all threads and posts so that the content on UK conforms to the dominant paradigm of the moment.

It seems obvious to me that quality can only be guaranteed through censorship, reeducation, and conformity.

There should also be a special forum to which certain resistant posters will be redirected, where a reeducation committee will engage in a posting dialogue with the rebel, and break down the will and contrariness of these recalcitrant members of UK.

In the end, all resistance should be seen as futile.

I agree with this. There is no balance. Those that hate keep being hatters and those that love keep being lovers, there is no in between makes for poor debating. Quality is definitely down especially after TMS left.

Will CBOP members also get bonus post count increases? You know that will attract the Bip.

If a poster voices an opinion without being entertaining, or does not have a compelling point of view, or offers a narrow perspective - that tends to lower the quality of the discussion. Threads that start with, "hey, let's trade Carmelo for draft picks" are generally considered filler. Note: Receiving quality for dreck is a bad formula.

The best indicator of a good thread is number of views. The best discussions are measured by the frequency (and twists and turns) of responses. Does it make you think?

If a thread is locked it generally sucks.

We are not journalists. We are fans. Whether the tenor of discussion is positive or negative it does not matter. You vote your heart. Back it with facts if you are feeling froggy.

Dare to be different.

why did he leave? He's one of my favorites. Even when we're polar opposite sides, I enjoy the argument because his view is always well reasoned

I think the biggest reason for this is a lot of people talked themselves into believing the prospects were the future and would yield a championship. Watched them grow when people didn't really care about the Knicks. So all that time and emotional investment is gone and what's left is a star that's already developed.

I say whatever. I think this is the backbone of a championship squad. Not there yet but closer today than yesterday

You really should yours is the lowest point count in all of UK.

"Can Billups play a role as a palyer-coach like Nesh did in Phonix?"

That is how an actual New Topic was spelled.

Thoughts?
