I realize he has had some pretty good games and seems like a nice guy and good teammate, but he is horrendous as a PG. He's like Jamal Crawford, minus the offensive skills. TD literally has no clue how to pass the basketball and I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I say Amare is a superior passer.

I understand TD picks guys pockets here and there, but I don't really think he is a very good defender either unless it's by comparison to other Knick players. He constantly lets his guy get in the lane and it then breaks down the D leading to easy buckets.

He needs to play the 2 more than playing 1 and it really frustrates me that we couldn't get our hands on a back up PG before the deadline. Imagine if we could have got Sessions for Brewer or something like that? He is actually what we need there and would help keep Chauncey much fresher for a stretch run. Now we have all these wing players - Azu, Brewer, Balkman, Walker, Williams and now JJ AGAIN all playing behind Fields and Melo (though Williams and JJ can play 4/5). I just wish we could have swung something bc if anything happens to Billups, I think it's slightly possible we could fall out of the playoff race. I know this seems crazy with Amare and Melo there, but the PG seems vital to MDA's system and without a competent PG in there I could see it being really sloppy.

Can Carter still play? If so, why doesn't he play?

as bad TD has looked at times, he has gotten loads better....

his assist/TO ratio is 2 which is all you can really ask for.

i'd prefer that he shoots 40% from 3 but that will come with time... hopefully.

It's tough for Mike to just stick a wild card into his most important position. He already knew Billups and he knows what TD can and can't do, but Carter is a total unknown. With no practice time, it's a lot to ask to just throw him in there. He doesn't know the plays, and he's not that good to begin with. Maybe after some practice Mike can get him in there, but I understand the resistance.

If TJ Ford agreed to sign with NY, I'd gladly cut Carter for the roster spot.

Antonio Daniels is lighting up the d-league, has character and is mature and doesn't need coaching. He has good size and is competent. D'Antoni isn't going to play a young guy so getting a guy like Daniels might work. He is a no risk option as a 10 day contract.

The PG's in the draft are mostly projects. From a value standpoint it seems like we're better off getting mike another wing to develop or Jujan Johnson; Channing Frye clone.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

He has a nice game here and there. He's a pretty consistent shooter but he's short a lot when he Shoots over the screen. He's smAll and has no fluidity or elusiveness. All his steps are choppy. Some games he hAs the pick n roll going and others he's A mess. He picks up his dribble too often and he isn't a leader at all. Plus he Terri ly overrated defensively like the thread starter said. He gambles for steals, plays guys like derrick rose 35 feet away tightly, and doesn't watch his man off the bAll. Get someone else in here please.

I saw Antonio was making a comeback. I'd have no problem signing the man. He has always been a professional who has kept himself in shape. He's not the most creative passer, but he's got good size, was a good defensive player and has playoff experience.

Well, if it gets ugly out there we now have Carter as others have suggested.

The thing is that Douglas now has a great PG in Billups mentoring him. Douglas really likes to listen, he is old school full of respect. I really do expect Billups to have a nice affect on him.

Even if by the end of the year he doesn't greatly improve with his Pg skills, I don't see him leaving (outside of a trade for something we really need) as he plays incredible D for the most part and he also plays well with Billups.

There is a chance we might get Jimmer F. in the draft if both us and the Rockets miss the playoffs. I watched some videos of him and I'm not sure he is going to get his shot off in the NBA. (I know that sounds crazy with his talent but I do worry a bit). I am hoping for him to fall to us anyway, though I do question if he will succeed at the next level - but his shot is just too good. Just for comparisons sake I did not have that worry at all with Stephen Curry.
