In year 1 with Marbury, the Knicks went 25-22 (.532). How will the Knicks finish year 1 in games Carmelo plays?

No offense... but after 2 games and only a total of 25 games with Melo on board for the rest of the season along with the fact the Marbury had almost 2 extra months with the team his first year makes your Poll... utterly pointless.

What are you talking about? Predictions have to come before the games are played.

We lose a game and people start linking Melo to Marbs. Amazing!

The parallels are too striking to ignore. He's more talented than Marbs, he is not as 'ftw' as Marbs, but the underlying mindset is the same. "I'm the cool guy, too cool to sacrifice my self for the team, I'm too cool to do the little things it takes to win". "I get what I want when I want it, I am a baby".

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Melo took his team to the playoffs every year please do not mention his name in the same sentence and Marbury it's 2 games people need to calm down. The Cavs beat the Lakers last week and beat us earlier this year with Gallo and company . Things happen this team is going to have growing pains look how long it took the Heat to gel .

Dude, talk about bias. I know you didn't like the trade, but why interpret every Melo action like that? Let Melo acclimate himself back to NY, the team, the coach and the goals and we'll see what he can do the rest of this season.

Marbury was never considered a top NBA franchise player. Ever. He got paid to try and BECOME a franchise player. Melo brought the Nuggets from the basement of the league to ultimately the Western Conf finals....WITH the franchise tag. This poll is unbelievable.

Hey, I'm all for Melo getting "acclimated". But I'll tell you that no matter how much acclimation goes on, this trade is a disaster for the Knicks franchise.

I'll see you in 2018, at the end of another failed decade, discussing the 2011 disaster.

^^^^^Knicks must be in a terrible place if the trading of role players will be considered a historic disaster. Smh.

Chandler is averaging 18, 6 and 1.5 blocks in two games. Gallinari blew up last night. I think they are very good players and I don't think the 'System' neccesarily inflated their numbers.

Dude you HAVE to know you're are talking about role players here. Please say you don't really believe they are in the upper echelon of players.

I think they are good players. I am not sure what your definition of a good player is but I think both of these guys fit mine. I never said they were upper echelon but I did say Gallinari dominated last night and he looked like a star. He did it throughout the game and not just for a few minutes.

I don't think you ever heard of the term YOUNG players.

They're young and they keep improving...to the point where they CAN be in the upper echelon of players. And I mean upper echelon, not the elite. Carmelo is not in the elite and neither is Amare.

Gallo = Tim Thomas as worst, Toni Kucok at best. Which is pretty good.

And by the way, I have heard of the term young players. I seem to remember Amar'e getting rookie of the year and here we are years later and he is a scoring leader, allstar and dominant. I seem to remember Carmelo averaging 21 points per game and bringing the Nuggets from a 17 win team to a 43 win team as a young player. Years later his is called the best scorer in the league by some. So....yeah, I'm familiar with the term.

He didn't single-handedly bring the Nuggets from a 17-win team to a 43 win team. The talent upgraded significantly and his supporting cast played a big role in his success there.

And you're not familiar with the term because there were players like Jermaine O'Neal who rotted in one place and blossomed elsewhere. We will see what the future holds for these players.

This poll is pointless because marbury didn't have a player the caliber of amare. To play with either

Marbury did before coming to NY too. And somehow 85% of this board opposed the Melo trade but the vast majority supported the Marbury trade.

It's an unfair comparison because Melo has a much better supporting cast than Marbury did. Yet it would not surprise me at all if their winning percentages were comparable. That would not reflect well on the Amare/Melo experiment.
