he was putting up real solid numbers in the ABA before signed by the knicks 22 pts and 6 boards a game...not bad even though its the aba but atleast he is young and athletic. Remember if we still had Layden he would have signed some stiff white guy if we ever signed anyone
Cursed no more!!! Knicks are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Under Layden there was never any room on the roster to sign any 10 dayers....always too crowded with guys making way too much money.

DJ broke his neck and back in that car accident. Apparently, he has 3 fused vertibae.

I wish him the best of luck--and he did have some game in Atlanta, though no D--but I have to wonder how sturdy he is and how much game he has left. Can anyone thing of a play who came back 85% or more after breaking their back?

I think this is a great move, especially in comparison to what the daily news was saying today about us trying to get Vin Baker. That would have been a horrible move.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/story/160819p-141070c.html

The article states that Baker has an interest in the Knicks. It's silent on whether the Knicks have an interest in him.

I hope Johnson gets PT to see what he's got. It doesn't seem like Wilkens likes to give minutes to young players.

A little about DerMarr Johnson:

#6 Overall Draft Pick Lottery Selection in the 2000 NBA draft.
Left Cincinnati after a pretty nice freshman season, averaging 12.6 points and winning the Conference USA ROY award.
Excellent shooter, but had a weird release on his shot which made scouts wonder...
T-Mac type of body and raw athleticism, but who know how much he still has after the accident/fusion. Supposedly similar potential, once again perhaps limited by losing a season to injury.
Still only 23.

Over the summer, his name was fairly active on the forums here as a replacement for Postell. I guess he didn't stick around with any of the teams he was working out with. He's a nice young player to develop--- I think he still has upside, but after being mediocre in Atlanta for so many years, I think it's unlikely he'll ever achieve the superstardom once predicted for him. Maybe he can gain the savvy of a Kerry Kittles, though?

How do you guys think this kid can still play now in the NBA? He was actually on a few teams in preseason and teams gave up on him, he was cut by them all. I wish he could play like the old demarr , but that injury could have done him in forever.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I didn't see Shandon play too great of a defense against Joe Johnson with Phoenix-

But you did see him give Paul P. nightmares. Come on anderson has been known through out the league as a great defender, so for you to compare him, you better come up with some one good

Nice pickup. Hopefully he plays so we can get a look at him. I dount he breaks the rotation in the next 10 days, but maybe. He can play SF too at that size.

Great Defender? come on, pierce had a bad game. I have yet to see anderson actually shut someone down like Artest,Bowen and a few other guys. Watch the games, don't listen to what people tell you.

spree is a better defender. no question about it. He got in guys faces and annoyed them. I've never seen anybody call Anderson a tough defender like Artest and Bowen.
