I have NO interest in who "won" the trades between the KNicks and Nets. Knicks made a good deal, so did the Nets and that either one of them could have made the other's deal is just fan speculation. Comparison's are mostly irrelevant.
But that said. I saw a lotta hand-wringing this past week about Prokhorov schooling the Knicks and about how Brooklyn would threat the Knicks in a couple years.
But did anyone notice after the relative surprise of the trade after the first few hours, it basically got swallowed hole by 'melo's debut and the rest of the trade deadline stuff.
You don't think NBA players in particular notice this.
Net's will never going to be able to replicate Wednesday night. There simply isn't a place in the professional basketball world for that dynamic. It's already taken by a handful of teams.
Just like there is no new wealth in the world, it only gets divided up differently. That dynamic is not up for grabs.
The Nets trade was a flash in the pan. It became an afterthought within hours, and it's that catch-22 that will always haunt the junior franchise.
And stars notice. After the last 48 hours, you're just being stubborn if you don't realize the considerable advantage the Knicks have and will always have in this market...
