I have NO interest in who "won" the trades between the KNicks and Nets. Knicks made a good deal, so did the Nets and that either one of them could have made the other's deal is just fan speculation. Comparison's are mostly irrelevant.

But that said. I saw a lotta hand-wringing this past week about Prokhorov schooling the Knicks and about how Brooklyn would threat the Knicks in a couple years.

But did anyone notice after the relative surprise of the trade after the first few hours, it basically got swallowed hole by 'melo's debut and the rest of the trade deadline stuff.

You don't think NBA players in particular notice this.

Net's will never going to be able to replicate Wednesday night. There simply isn't a place in the professional basketball world for that dynamic. It's already taken by a handful of teams.

Just like there is no new wealth in the world, it only gets divided up differently. That dynamic is not up for grabs.

The Nets trade was a flash in the pan. It became an afterthought within hours, and it's that catch-22 that will always haunt the junior franchise.

And stars notice. After the last 48 hours, you're just being stubborn if you don't realize the considerable advantage the Knicks have and will always have in this market...

In last 10 years Nets have had a better team then Knicks

All while being in Jersey

They have had BIGGER STARS THEN OUR KNICKS

Kidd Carter and now D Will

they went to the finals

Brooklyn will also close gap.

Gotta keep giving The Don his props for first getting us back in the game after a decade
of being a joke!

The Don is the reason we matter.

Can't sleep on that.

If NY was the reason why do Mets suck?.... Im a Met fan BTW

If NY is the reason why isn't Lebron here?.... Which IMO he will regret in his career.

NY is best place in World hands down no doubt...... But The Don Keeps us in the game not the city!

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

Wrong, NYC matters.

Mets = second fiddle.
Nets = second fiddle.
If the Nets had always been in Brooklyn, it would be different. If the Dodgers never left, they would be equally important as the Yankees. But that ain't the case.
Whether you like it or not, MSG is a historical arena.

Lebron had his own reasons, and he obviously made up his mind to play house with his boyfriends long ago. Also was too much of a coward to come to NYC with all eyes on him.

Donnie does his part, no doubt. He's been great. But don't kid yourself that MSG and NYC have no sway in the stature and prominence of a team.

And this coming from a guy (me) who thinks the whole "World's Greatest Arena" is some self-aggrandizing, and overblown marketing b*lls**t.

Which STAR has come to play in MSG since we drafted Ewing and Lost King?

Till Amare Houston was our biggest FA signing in last 30 years.

the fact that the nets were so laughably bad in the 90s and their arena and the fact that they were in new jersey does not help....

when they move to brooklyn, the current generation of hardcore fans will not swing over unless Dolan brings back Isaiah... the nets really have to hope for a deep playoff run and they will grab the young in's and they will provide the basis of their hardcore fan base.. it won't happen for a number of years though...

the mets had 69 and those magical 80s teams with exciting young prospects playing in epic and exciting playoff games... the mets owned new york in the 80s.... the nets are going to need to follow a similar formula when they move to brooklyn but i doubt it happens right away...

I noticed this today as I saw footage of the Deron press conference just a few hours ago and on the web, instead of it being in ESPN like a major event, like their Melo coverage. And I've practically been glued to the news for updates.

uh... Amar'e and Melo?

History matters - the Knicks will always be #1 in the NY area, like the Lakers over the Clippers. Even though the Clippers are fun right now and might be better than the Lakers in 5 years - it will always be Lakers town in LA. Same with Knicks in NY.

That isn't the right question.

The right question is over the last 30 years what FA spurned the Knicks even though the KNicks had the cap room to sign them?

Grant Hill
Lebron James
DWade
And there was someone else before Grant Hill. I remember being perennially used by midlevel FA's to get more out of other teams.

The other guy said 30 years and you could only back 20 months.

And James and Wade are a special case, if there ever was one.

The point is there has been this myth perpetuated that NY is not a draw and the proof is they never signed a significant free agent other than Houston.

But the Knicks, before this year, never really has both cap space, and a solid base of talent to attract a player.

No one is arguing that the aura of NYC has the power to circumvent cap rules.

So I'll ask again. Can anyone name a player and a year where REAL significant free agent turn down the Knicks to play someplace else.

I'm sorry, but Grant Hill and mid-level guys really are beside the point.

Anyone notice? The Knicks-Nets dynamic and 'Melo/D. Will
