Yeah, but the Nugknicks got 4 guys in the deal, and a coach who understands how to use a deep roster is going to have all kinds of weapons to choose from- not to mention the fact that the 4 players he got back play hard on both ends of the court.

He really dissed Anthony in the interview I saw- pretty much saying that he gave little effort on the defensive end. We are now going to be the recipient of that defensive disinterest.

Just hope that his offensive highlights balance out his lack of D.

Good point. I heard Karl in the huddle at the end of the game and he said "we will not win this game on offense! Its all about defense"

And MDA looks clueless coaching D. Good luch trying to get this group to play D. Gallo actually looked really good defensively tonight.

Miami looked sluggish for 17 games too folks. I'm sure we'll be fine.

Denver has a full roster and two sets of guys who know how to play with each other. We have all new parts. I'd put my money on the Knicks long term.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I didn't watch the game, but from the box score, Chandler was the only guy of the four they got from us who had a good game.

The Celts are up there age wise and were playing with a thin team last night. Denver should have won the game.

I have to admit I'm a little jealous of Denver. Gallo and Wil... good luck, guys.

yeah, but these guys had an opportunity to PRACTICE and get acclimated before their first game. That is a major difference which blows a hole in your critique about barely beating the Bucks. A point even the talking heads in the media missed.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Gallo had one of those games where scoring wise in stats he does not look like he had a great game...yet he did. He basically took out Paul Pierce in the first 2 quarters. He shut him down and also had Paul Pierce commited 3 fouls in the 1st and 2nd quarter trying to guard Gallo. Gallo's 1st attempt was a drive to the basket where 3 Celtic defenders met him and I thought he got fouled but did not get the call. He posted up and got all the way to the basket but missed a layup. Everybody was missing layups in the beginning of the game. Both teams. Gallo also guarded Ray Allen and Big Baby and he blocked Big Baby twice. One he took the ball coast to coast and missed a layup but KMart followed with a dunk. Gallo's lone score was from a broken play that led to a fast break where he dunked over a Celtic. Good stuff. He missed easy shots but I think like Melo he was pressing a little. He took good shots. Denver is so deep our boys need to adjust that they will no longer get 36+ minutes a game.

and when is the last time a players went directly for his press conference to an abbreviated shoot around right and still perform well. As far as I'm concerned Melo performed above my expectation that day

So we're pretending Denver don't measure behind the Knicks in some defensive metrics (http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/teamstats/_/sort/defensiveEff/order/true) and gave up a grand total of 1.1 more points a game on average (actually less, because this total reflects last night's low-scoring score).

We're blaming it all on Anthony?

Frankly, I think taking veiled shots at Anthony is somewhat classless from Karl, particularly since he's somewhat implied through some of his comments that Anthony coached the team, and not he. That as head coach he had no choice and just stayed there for years and took it.

Pragmatically, may have some truth to it, but he seems to be scapegoating 'Melo and not taking responsibility as head coach and I don't have a lot of respect for that.

We shoudl do well offensively. Chauncey should do a better job running the pick and roll with Stat and we have great iso options. Teams can no longer just focus on one player to shut us down. But D will be a big problem. Biggest problem is that you will never hear D'Antoni say what Karl just did. If the other team gets hot we just try to shoot 3s or rush the pace which often benefits the hot team. Unless Billups has some good tips from Karl to pass onto this team we could slide even further defensively. The Bucks had all kinds of open looks the other night. With 2 superstars being 0.500 or a few games over won't cut it. Having a good offense will no longer be credited to the coach as with this kind of star power you are supposed to. You know D'Antoni hated this trade for this very reason.

Looks like the Celtics are going to sputter as team morale is down after Perkins trade.

denver has a lot of depth now.. just think. You can rest lawson and come in with Felton.

You can rest gallo and come in with chandler and or JR smith

they have size, wing players... they are stacked..

they don't have a star, but they have quality depth, and that is how you wear down good teams... if melo wasn't so damn selfish, we could have had a similar team, except with two stars..

imagine sitting melo and stat and coming in with chandler, gallo and moz?

wow

well you made a backhanded swipe with the "barely beat" milwaukee statement. Don't think you meant it like that but, I felt the point needed to be made. Sorry if I can off a bit bullish....having a shytee day at work.

tfk--exactly. On top of which I read that Melo would be making 10+mm a year in extra endorsements from nY now. If he just stayed patient--we would haeva much better team. This trade was a mortgage that we will be paying for 4 five years. thats not how you hedge downside( aka injury) the people who thought hat Denver was turning into a Clev were obtuse. Denver is better than the Knicks right now--point blank--they would beat us in a best of 7. Now we need to improve--but we dont have much leeway--everything has to hit. Its telling if you give up two players that are your so-called franchise players YET seem on basis to have improved in a short sample. Think of George mason or Butler--team means a lot.
