With Reggie Evans nearing a return from injury, word is Raps have made rebounding specialist available. Evans has $5.1M expiring contract

Hey maybe we could do a Brewer & Balkman for Evans..Probably wishful thinking.

Maybe Azu and Brewer.

Evans is limited (I actually can't picture D'Antoni embracing a guy that can't play on the offensive end of the floor) but for what he brings, we could definitely use him. No question..Crush we talked about it yesterday -- for what it's worth, I'd rather work the DL for a big or two...My guys are Cousin AND Adrien..Thing is I can't picture D'Antoni embracing going that route either..

Brewer can't be moved.

Azu and Mason can though and is enough salary.

Why can't Brewer be moved? I thought only free agent signings can't be moved until a certain amount of time elapses (several months, 3 months maybe?). Wasn't Q-Rich traded like 10 times last year??

I agree about Cousin and Adrien. Adrien looks like he is going to be a very good role player.

just not for Evans cause salary don't match and you need to move Brewer as a single entity, not in combo

Toronto gets nothing in that trade...Azu's still hurt and probably won't be back for the rest of the year and Mason hasn't played in months and can't really contribute anything worthwhile anymore anyway..Plus hey already have a ton of better option at the 2/3 already on the team with Weems & DeRozan AND they made a nice move calling up SG Trey Johnson from the DL -- dude was ripping it up down there this year..

Nope.

Brewer was ACQUIRED in a multi-player transaction when the Knicks were OVER the cap. This means he cannot be moved.

Larry Coon has already confirmed this. Look up his Twitter account.

This by the way was one of the short hold ups of the deal. Knicks were looking for a 4th team to take Brewer as part of the 'Melo trade, because once it was complete, he couldn't be moved again.

Yeah Cousin too..He could be a very nice role player here and a guy that could supplant Turiaf in the starting rotation not before long..If I'm Donnie (provided he and his band of merry men even know about this guy) I'd introduce Mike to this guy's skills right away---MDA might actually like Cousin as a player..Big, young, strong, athletic center that can score the ball..He can definitely shoot the rock VERY WELL that's for sure, as well as rebound it and get up and down the floor..That's all we need--role playing big men at the right price..Just a little more frontcourt depth that can contribute to the cause..We're not in the market for Hakeem Olajuwon -- wouldn't be able to add a guy like that anyway, given our salary structure which needs to be handled with kid gloves from here on in...Even for a guy like Sam Dalembert -- he'd be an ideal rental because he supplies what we need and he's on an expiring deal but what do we have left to offer Sacramento for a guy like him? Nothing...After the Evans, the Dalemberts, there's no way I'm taking on any kind of future salary for any other marginal player..We can't possibly box ourselves into a corner like that...Go get me a couple of promising guys from the DL that would come cheap and possibly turn into nice inexpensive, productive players for us long-term..That's the ticket right now..Sometimes you find exactly what you need in Walmart; you don't always have to shop at Tiffany's..

What is the point of this rule? I don't get it.

Brewer also has a $5 mil Qualifying Offer for next year. I doubt we keep him. This is just one of several parts of the trade that stunk. But we accepted them all. To deflect aguments - I was and still am positive about the trade in general.

For others: You can't trade Brewer with other players right now; it has to be a straight 1-for-1 deal. Something like that. Not sure of exact details but that's the brunt of it.

He can be traded in a trade where he's the only Knick being traded.

Point of the rule is to limit salary cap manipulation, so teams can't use the $125% trade rules and make series of phantom paper trades that circumvents the 125% limit.
