\ˈan(t)-thə-nē

Adding emphasis is one thing. Butchering a name to make it sound effeminate is another. Knicks public address announcer Mike Walczewski needs to work on his delivery for Carmelo's last name. His sing-song version is WAY too close to his falsetto pronunciation of Mar-bur-ree for The Answer Man. If Carmelo is special, why trot out the same gadget you used for a player who is running in China somewhere?

The ending needs quicker, and more masculine, emphasis on the first syllable of his last name. Not the last. Make it crisp as a spin move in the paint. Not some drawn out facsimile of children teasing a second grader.

"Car-MEL-low ANT!-thə/nay"

Draw it closer to the rhytmic Pat-trick-U-Wing hook where the voice drops an octave, rather than raising it.

LOL.

Maybe he's trying to be funny or pad his post count?

Same guy who posts about sneakers, jersey's and Nash's haircut; basically being deciding factors as to whether a player is fit for NY or not. His next thread will detail why sock-height will impact our playff position.

He's trying to find his way back from the miserable posts about losing Chandler.

Earl is back...one of my favorite posters is back!

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

Swishfm3 - if you can cite just one example of plagiarism, please come forward with it.

Since you care so much:

Exactly

The over-the-top emphasis of contemporary public address announcers could take a lesson from John Condon's pitch perfect delivery. The game show host style is for losing teams, desperate for a attention.

Nobody ever intoned, "That was goaltending" quite as he did. Nobody ever warned, "Five seconds, New York, five seconds" quite as he did. In his way, John Condon was as much a part of the Knicks as all the players and coaches in their history. Including college and high school, he worked nearly 3,000 games. - Dave Anderson, NYTimes
