Speculation about Thomas’s influence on the Knicks has been fueled by news reports, but also by Dolan, who tried to hire Thomas as a consultant last summer. The arrangement was called off because Thomas, as the coach at Florida International University, had a conflict of interest. Dolan issued a statement then saying that he would continue seeking his advice.

Thomas has been coy, refusing to deny that he may have advised Dolan on the Anthony trade and other matters. Team officials suspect that Thomas and his network of friends have overstated his role — and said that Dolan was livid with Thomas for perpetuating the rumors.

I agree, it's a distinct possibility. This type of speculation is exactly what Isiah wants.

Dolan made a big statement and if he hires Thomas he loses a lot of credibility. I wonder if he cares?

Isiah talks about his love for going to the gym and riding his bike and talking to Dolan. Dude should be promoting his team. He seems disinterestted in his current job.

Jimmy with his side burn chops long hair and "Chubby Checker" pudge is not the picture of a successful leader. Dude looks more like a reality show train wreck!

How much is FIU going to put up with? At some point, they need to fire him.

It sure seems like Isiah is going to over-Isiah himself out of Dolan's graces - which is a great thing, and typical, I think, or compulsive personalities.

HAHA! So true---the man does looks like a train wreck..Terrible speaker too (although better than me so I shouldn't talk---I was awful the few times I ever had to make a speech in school---used to get ripped for no eye contact and reading off my index cards LOL ), he did go out of his way to address Walsh & IT's lack of involvement...Whether he was being completely truthful or not, who the hell knows, the fact is he went out of his way to praise the work Donnie's done esp with this trade..I was actually proud of this dope for doing that--can you imagine that! LOL. Donnie deserved that.

From Hahn's artilce:
Isiah Thomas ' involvement in the Anthony deal has also been a major issue. Dolan acknowledged Thomas as a friend, but denied he had any involvement in the trade.

" Isiah Thomas is a friend of mine," Dolan said. "A very good friend of mine. He was not at all involved in this process.

"He wasn't advising me or telling me what to do in any way. And any reports that imply he was doing that are simply untrue and fiction in somebody's mind."

at believing anything Dolan says in a pre-written statement.

This is why Dolan loves Isiah. Isiah plays his role and does as he is told.

In a contest of who're the more likely liar, Isiah Thomas or James Dolan, my monies on Thomas without a second thought.

Just sayin.

Lord knows he has his faults but usually has a history of fulfilling his promises even to the detriment of the team.

He is stubburn, short sighted, ignorant, emotional, not a good speaker, and not good listening to reason after he has made up his mind.

I don't know him to be one who lies.

Maybe he is adding this to resume? We'll see.

it was the media all along. The do need to sell papers you know and drama usually works.

Dolan and IT are friends....what else are the going to talk about...hockey??? So of course they talk about the team but, does this mean he's advising him...no.

I believe in and trust Walsh and he came out and debunked this crap before Dolan reiterated.

The media puts it out there and we believe it (well some of us)

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt
