This guy is putting up big numbers in the d-league, and has talent. He is not in the nba because of character issues. With Amare, Rony and Chauncey on the team, there might be enough veteran leadership in place for him to be successful. He is a low risk high reward guy. He costs the Knicks nothing except Balk or Mason's roster spot.

i know its silly but to a lesser degree the other shawne williams as well. he struggled with many of the same problems as sean williams D league does. i went to college with sean -- kind of a bizarre guy, always smoking weed, weird socially, but man what a player. had 75 blocks in 15 games his junior yr and then got kicked out of school. he was an other worldly shot blocker though, i remember briggs making dikembe mutumbo comparisons.

if he ever got his head on straight, stopped smoking, and really applied himself he could be an all-star.

I am not sure why things have worked out here for Shawne. I really wanted Ew jr. and was frustrated that Shawne was kept over him and was quick to point out how many times he had been arrested in the last 10 months. However, he is now one of Amare's best friends. I don't know if Amare is guiding him but something is working and Shawne is having great success. I would hope that the same thing could happen for the other Sean.

We might have the vets who could counsel him, and as you say, Shawne W. might be a good role model for him.

With these 10 day contracts I can't see why you wouldn't take a chance on a guy like this if you thought he could help and you had the leadership on your team which could control him. The Knicks don't have money issues, and how many years did we give $$ to E. Curry and get nothing in return.

We need another Turiaf type player in the middle at this point- if this guy can do it, give him the 10 day shot at the job.

Please stop with this guy. He is a headcase. We don't need this guy. There are better players out there than him.

He has a ton of talent and the Knicks have already turned around a guy who had major character and legal issues. There is no risk. I am not sure why you wouldn't give him a chance. He plays for Nancy Lieberman and nothing has been reported as coming in regards to issues with him. I think when looking at guys like this you have to consider whether some of their issues were due simply to being young and immature. I don't think you would have to do a lot of background work to find out how his coach, teammates and the organization feels about him.

I wouldn't take him on.. unless his temperament is like Shawne Williams'. I think two similar rehab projects may be tempting fate though

Why does Chris Andersen keep getting shots at reclamation and not this guy? He does everything Chris Andersen can do. Bring him in.

I tell you what, I was really impressed with Williams last night. He normally didn't approach the level of defense played by Wilson, Gallo or Fields, the guys he was subbing in for.

Last night he was draped all over people.

To me, our best lineup is going to be when we go small and have Williams in for Turiaf. Billups, Fields and Williams can stretch the floor as well as anyone and the defense will have to decide which All-Pro they want to let beat them on the block.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Sean Williams problem is he doesnt listen to the coach. I dont mind a guy with off the court problems but on the court issues is another thing.

Shawne Williams is like Andray Blatche. Talented but does stupid stuff off the court. I can deal with that.
