it came down to this: Melo at this cost or no Melo. Love him or not he's a top scorer in this league and a top 15 player at 26 years old who wants to be here.
Of course neither guy wanted to make this trade. Denver lost a star who took them a lottery team to relevence for 7 years. Walsh had to trade a bright young group of players he put together. Mosgov, Gallo and Felton where HIS guys. He recruited and drafted them. Chandler blossumed under his regime. These guys grew and the Knicks became a winner again. Its hard to make that deal, but a Melo/Amare tandem gives you a pair of studs to build around in their prime who can impress their will on a game.
