A legit starting big man who can rebound and play defense and a backup point guard.

Apparently Carmelo is going to play center and backup Pg now.

Actually people are gonna want to come here and play for the Knicks man, no more losing atmosphere...

I am sure we will be able to pick up a savvy vet for the league minimum once Donnie fills out the roster in the summer/next year. Show some patience man. We aint winning a title this year but this was definitely a move that we needed to make.

Anthony Carter = back-up PG....old but has a lot of experience and can handle the backup role.

Still need a big Center

Anthony Carter sucks but I guess he will do.

A center is harder to find. Earl Barron isn't the answer.

No, no one ever brings this up on Knicks fans message boards.

Thanks for being vigilant.

Good one.

I haven't seen a topic discussing this topic since we got Super Elite Star Master of Basketball Carmelo Anthony. Everyone suddenly forgot our important needs.

I think most people who don't like how this trade went down realize it. The scary thing is going to be if Amare plays the 5 and Melo plays the 4. I think that is inevitable and it will be very hard to watch.

Dude... your being a snit now.

C2D... we still have the same needs X2 now. This is a 1 step back 2 steps forward. We lose depth and chemistry but we have another player who can impress his win on a game and uterly dominate. This isnt how I would have done it but there is something here. Our role players are weak and will cost us but after hearing Walsh he's even more focused now on turning over every rock and finding ever diamond in the rough to be found.

Look in any thread discussing the trade. Just because there wasn't a dedicated topic doesn't mean people forgot.

Why do you think people are so upset at Mozgoz being included?

Deadline is Thursday. Got a gentlemen's bet says Knicks bring in a center.

You in?

No doubt backup point is a little bit of a problem (we just swapped out Ray Felton for a guy about 7-8 yrs older and TD hasn't come along as quickly as we would've hoped--still makes a lot of mistakes out there) but to me the more glaring need is in the middle by far..That needs to be addressed first before anything else..I don't think we need a star or a high-salary vet there at all..We can't afford something like that right now anyway..Just gimmie a big capable guy at a good price..I think the best option is 6'11" 255 lb NBDL C Marcus Cousin of the Austin Toros. Dude could be had on a 10-day contract right now..I honestly think he'd be better than Earl Barron..About 4 yrs younger than Barron, I think Cousin is more skilled and the better player..Just starting to come into his own now, Cousin's big, long, a very good athlete, he can post up, rebound and he might have one of the prettiest and most effective mid-range jumpers I've ever seen on a guy that big in quite some time..AUTOMATIC jumpshooter. Very good FT shooter too..Out of the 3 best centers in the D-League right now (Cousin, Courtney Lee, Chris Johnson) Cousin may not have the best overall numbers but I think he's the most ready for the NBA. Very advanced set of skills -- he's a real nice combination of athletic power AND finesse..Played extremely well in the DL all-star game over all-star weekend, this guy would be a perfect addition next to Amar'e & Melo. We could get him for a good price, he's young and could grow with this team into something really special for us. The time for this guy is NOW. Exactly the type of guy we should looking to grab right now if you ask me. If we don't make a move on him some other team will. Gauranteed..Possibly the SA Spurs who really liked him a lot during training camp but were forced to cut him..They told him to go down and continue working hard..He has. Late bloomer with a highly advanced game...I'd jump all over this guy before the Spurs do.

I like the idea of taking a look at some d-league guys. Courtney Sims again looked impressive in their all star game. I know he was brought up by the Knicks before and by several other teams. He might be worth a look. Also, Sean Williams and Jeff Adrien might be worth a look. I think Williams is only in the d-l because of character issues. He may have matured and certainly is playing very well for Nancy Lieberman.

Sean Williams is a guy we should really look at. He's a beast of a shotblocker. He's just as good as the Birdman- he should be in the leauge.

THIS SEASON this is a lateral move. NEXT SEASON this is a stronger foundation. I know you were still breast feeding when the Knicks were "good" but come one. We now have two of the 10 All Star Game starters. This is good.

Screw defense, my goal tomorrow night is to get MSG to chant "We will, we will....outscore you!!"

In all seriousness, this deal was more about putting together our core which is a tougher task than finding role players to complement the stars. If Walsh is still here for the go forward, I trust his ability to find the right pieces to put around Amare/Melo/Fields/Billups.

"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

With our first round pick we need to select Markeiff Morris, who will provide rebounding and defense at the PF/C. In addition, he is athletic and a good outside shooter for a big man. His game reminds me of somewhere in better a poor-man's al horford/rich mans drew gooden. Perfect big man for this team that should be a very good long term role player.
