According to the NY Post, Weed wants to sign with the Knicks for the mid level exception this summer. This would be great and makes sense since is only other options would be the Nuggets, Jazz, and Suns. The knicks need to get Dampier for Kurt, Frank WIlliams, and a darft pick. Their lineup for next year will then be:

Marbury
Houston
Van Horn
Weed
Dampier (the post also reports that Golden State will move him and they want an expiring contract)

if he does great, but i think that's just talk - that's a HUGE paycut...but in reality, who's going to offer him more than 5mil/year - i don't think denver will. maybe utah since they can't get anyone to sign there in the first place. pheonix possibly.

Im starting to believe he's coming to NY this season. Portland do not want to just let him walk and get nothing for this talented 6'11 player.

I really believe Zeke is going to add Kurt Thomas with KVH in order to obtain Weed. If you lose Kurt, it wouldn't be so bad.
pg marbury/Williams/Norris
Sg Houston
cen Mutumbo/Doleac/Sundrov(who'll come back)
Pf. Weed/Harrington/Sweetney
Sf. S.Anderson/Penney

I was saying that we should trade Kurt Thomas and Doleac or Harrington for Camby (Or just try and go after camby in general, via trade), and then, that would make Summer a pretty good time to sign Raweed to the MLE. Our lineup would be:

PG- Marbury
SG- Houston
SF- Van Horn
PF- Wallace
C- Camby

That's a perfect starting lineup. Everyone compliments eachother perfectly. You have 3, even 4 players, worthy of being double teamed. You have 3 or 4 players who can run the court consistently. You have your low post presence on offense, along with your penetrator and shooters and garbage man. You have Camby and Wallace to block shots, and backing up Houston and Van Horn (On defense). That would be the best starting lineup in the East, without a doubt.

I'd rather have Dampier then Camby because, well we know what happens to Camby. Plus there is one major flaw on that team, how are we gonna guard the Duncans and Shaqs? Dampier is bigger and about the same shotblocker, can run too. I don't know if that's possible but I'd rather get Dampier on that lineup then Camby.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

LOL! Good one! Who the heck can guard the Duncans and the Shaqs? Certainly not Dampier. Nobody can guard Duncan, and Duncan proved in the finals, last year, that he is the only one that can be a legit defender against Shaq.

When Camby is healthy, he is a BIG TIME impact player. Right now, he is playing like a BIG TIME impact player for the Nuggets, and he is certainly earning his money.

Maybe Emeka will be able to guard Duncan or Shaq, in the future, but as of now, the 2 of them, and Garnett, are literally, unguardable.

Dampier is a monster! I love that starting 5!

I rather just give up KURT and frank for Weed.

The one reason I didnt want to include KT in this trade was I was concerned who would back up center for Deke. If IT thinks Doleac can play like this all season then I would include KT in the trade and get Sheed here right now.

Why not wait for Weed for the summer and sign him to the MLE. We can trade KT and others for Dampier.

I am just curious as to why you guys want Dampier, of all the people? If he were so good, then I would think that the Warriors would be a winning team, for the past couple of years. Yet, right now, with all the talent they have, they are competing with the Suns, for last place in the West. If he were better than Camby, then I promise you, the Warriors would be competing for a playoffs spot in the West. The is a guarantee.

Dampier is a true center that the knicks need. He will do a decent job guarding Shaq or Duncan. If the Knicks trade for him and sign Weed with the MLE, they will most likely make the finals and would be good competition against any West team.

Weed and Dampier up front. WOW that would be massive!! Our D would be soooo good with Dampier swatting 5 shots a game! and putting up 20pts & 20rebs as he often does.

Isn't that what they said about Michael Olowakandi as well?

I think Dampier has had a more consistent career. At least in terms of blocking shots and rebounding. This year he's scoring a lot more.

Mike O is a great player when he's inspired AND healthy.

golden state is not trading dampier. his numbers this year are incredible. stat wise, he is probably the top five center in the league. you think they will trade that for thomas and whoever? they already got burned on the van exel deal. they will get better offers IF dampier is available. but he is'nt. we had our shot last year when layzie hesitated and did not pull triggers to get dampier.

everyone has there price. i've also heard that g.s. is looking to shed contracts. oh, just for the record, i think dampier just might do a better job than camby against west side centers.(offensively & defensively)

During the early 90's Vescey was THE reporter for NBA scoop. I think he got a little wacky during the late 90's and early 2000 - predicting and saying some of most off-the-wall stuff, could have been the effect of the Internet - but as of late has been a little more level headed. I would always take his reports with a grain of salt, but I do think they have a little insight behind them.

Always remember that GMs, coaches, players, agents, and player’s posse leak rumors. It's the reporter's job to filter. It's our job to figure out who made the leak and what angle they are playing. The report that Weed wants to sign with the Knicks strangely only benefits the Knicks. It kills potential deals. Very weird.
