FisolaNYDN Chauncey Billups, according to a Knicks source, has received assurances from his new team that they will pick up his 2011-12 option

If Chauncey is motivated and not upset to be leaving Denver, that's huge.

If Chancey wants assurances it sounds like he wants to be here. This team could surprise some higher seeds if they can get some help from the bench.

I really wasn't worried about Chauncey. I mean this is a dream situation for a guy at the end of his career. He gets to have fun with 2 Superstars in MSG and NYC. It's gonna be fun for him to get some spotlight leading this team in the playoffs. I'd be very pumped up to play with STAT and MELO. Plus he's got plenty of game left and wants to play another 4 years. If Kidd and Nash can, so can he. I actually feel very good about him replacing Felton. Better shooter and proven leader IMO.

They have no choice but to pick it up. Billups got lucky--he made 10mm coming here.

The point is that he's a very good replacement for Felton. He's a better shooter and we all know that Felton's poor shooting killed us in many games lately. Billups playoff experience along is worth it's weight in gold. He can help the younger players on this team in the big moment and I feel MUCH SAFER with the ball in his hands in key crunchtime situations.

If Chauncey is on board with playing here, I think the Knicks already have something approaching a big three.

It's going to take a while to gel, but this could be a very interesting spring in New York.
