Al Harrington is so great. If we could get him for Thomas, FWill, and a draft pick that would be amazing. Too bad it won't happen even though the Pacers need a center and point guard. Hopefully we will just be able to get Howard.

Harrington would be a great acquisition, but no to Howard. He has a terrible contract.

Al Harrington was well on his way to becoming the next Bernard King when he busted up his knee 2 seasons ago. The injury has taken away some of his upside. He recently has complained of knee pain, which makes you wonder if he's damaged goods. Doctor reports said there is no structural damage--- but then again they don't feel his "discomfort".

It's a tad risky trading to eastern conference rivals-- teams are scared they'll give their opponents the piece that'll give them the decisive edge in playoff matchups (remember Bill Cartwright for Oakley?). Harrington has a very reasonable contract--- meaning for him to become dislodged, a team would probably have to take on the bloated contract of Croshere in the package.

From Vecsey's column:

http://www.nypost.com/sports/45458.htm

. . .

Sunday's Newark Star-Ledger branded my report (Al Harrington asking to be traded at least twice) nonsense, and accused Isiah Thomas of planting the small forward's acute Knicks interest in this space. As I learned from working with Charles Barkley, you can't win an argument with the ignorant. The author would better serve his readers, I submit, if he actually had a source other than the Indy beat writer who's made a career of getting beat on Pacer stories by The Post.

Oh, yeah, Harrington was quoted saying he's happy as a Skylark, er, Pacer being part of a winning team in Indy. What a shock he failed to validate his dissatisfaction with being the sixth man! Meanwhile, in case the Ledger would like to hear the tape, agent Andy Miller admitted to me the discussions with management, indeed, took place, which, of course, I'd already confirmed long before his frantic phone call. . . .

I think the Pacers would do the deal involving Kurt Thomas and Frank Williams. Kurt can play center for them which is a position they have missed since Brad Miller left. Kurt could be their missing piece to a championship run. Al Harrinton finally gives us a true small forward that plays D and can post up. As long as his knee is okay it is a
trade that needs to be made. Problem is will the Pacers and Knicks do a deal together - stay tuned.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Al Harrington is not to my taste. i hope he proves me wrong, but his game just looks so wild. and him shying away from the last shot against the hawks- that just sealed the deal, man.
